heres the carfax. fairly good record history.

whats the typical cost and term length for a extended warranty?
Route 66 seems to be the flavour of the month around here; excellent reviews. The price will depend on the term and miles. BMW's will be higher, but you won't have to deal with a 3rd party approval. How important that is is up to you. The Carfax does look pretty good.

With those miles, non-CPO and 211 total used BMWs in the dealer's stock, I'll bet it'll still be on the lot the last week of July, and then they're looking at 90 days. They probably allowed under $20k if it was a trade-in. If it's off a lease that lessee paid huge mileage fees.

Stop in on July 29 and offer $22k, take it or leave it. If they don't take it, leave it. They'll probably call you back.

Also, Carfax doesn't list transmission fluid change -- it's overdue.

When I talked to the sales guy about pricing he did say that if he tells his manager that I'm coming in tomorrow or the next day that's a different story(price) than sometime in a week or so. So I'm just going to give him a call ahead of time a day or two before and see what we can do. It was a trade in and I know we only see blue book but I think they go off of black book pricing or whatever it's called since that is their bottom line if they sell at auction.

He also did say that typically after 60 days they send the cars off to auction ...we're at that point so next week might be as good as it gets

I would give them an out-the-door price and how they do the math on price, taxes and fees is up to them. I always go for out-the-door as that way I know exactly how much money I'm spending.

Most dealers only use black book.

Since I'm in Ohio and the car's in Kentucky I won't pay taxes there and I only pay the price of the vehicle and any fees. I pay taxes when I come home. He said the fees were like 800 bucks total. What are your thoughts on an offer if I let him know I'm coming the next day? I need to know a total out-the-door price without tax anyways since I need to get a certified Bank check from my local bank

It looks like a clean car and I really don't know the market in KY or OH but just based on their asking price, the high mileage, no warranty, and how many used cars the dealer has in stock to move, I'd tell him I'll bring a bank check for $22k and drive it away. They're not losing money if they bought the car right. Then again, it might be more effective if you didn't call ahead and just showed up with the check, ready to walk if they don't take it. Of course, if I really really wanted a particular used car and didn't want to do more searching I'd pay what it takes.

Exactly. OP, you've been agonizing some time on the perfect car. If this is the car, then jump on it and enjoy!! I've had far more regret over the years for not getting something that I should have, than the other way around.

I can always ask for 23k out the door, i think thats fair given the obvious. Im not agonizing at all, even though 141 posts beg to differ . its fun looking at all the options, but it is making my head spin a bit.

And make sure they understand you'll drive it home "today". They become more serious when they know you're serious.

While im waiting on finding time to do a 12hr round trip to see that one with 75k miles on it...

I found this one 1hr from me which has my mandatory basics of comfort seats and head up display. plus that mocha leather looks gorgeous on the luxury series in my opinion. Call me silly but i feel the luxury line is more fitting to the classy 5 series than the m sport, but i DO like both the m sport and luxury line. heck maybe im getting old . Is it more of a comfy ride? Since i would rather have that.

Its also CPO with 34k miles. im sure only a few months left under warranty but hey..

KBB is $31,907
Fair purchase retail is 29k

its been for sale for 31 days so maybe they would take 25k + county tax?
Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks again guys!

let me know if you see anything missing on the build. i dont see speed limit sign reader or whatnot but i can live without that...

Looks to be missing quite a bit: rear view camera (does have PDC), APPS, comfort access to name just 3.

edit:
Hmmm... I didn't see the camera in the options list but the pics show it clearly has one. Sorry...

Nice car. Looks like CPO runs to 1/20/2020.

Mocha contour and HUD were my CPO must-haves but that's just me. It seems to have adaptive LED headlights and auto-dim highbeams, which are excellent.

For me, comfort access and apps are a deal breaker. I really feel the loss of CA when I get a loaner without it.

Yet again BMW never ceases to amaze me. How would a $70,000 car not have a button to unlock doors on the handle (CA)? My wife has it on her Nissan.....
As for the apps thing I just looked that up as well and it seems you can get an aftermarket add on for it but still...something to consider. ..sigh..

Thanks for doing the translation for me. Well that's good news I guess. In regards to the apps, what does that really give me? I just looked up a video on YouTube and I see for a few hundred dollars I can buy some package and retrofit the apps, but what would I be missing? Would it be just a better user interface for things like Pandora and Spotify and whatnot? In other words if I didn't have the apps package, I would just click my Spotify app on my phone and connect to the Bluetooth in the car and on the car display it would just show the name of the track and the artist and I can just only fast forward and whatnot from the car gui without touching the phone? I guess I'm just used to old Japanese cars which don't even have Bluetooth..

If you want comfy, note that the Luxury Line includes 19"/runflats--which I found pretty harsh for a "luxury" ride. I immediately sold my wheels/RFtires and bought 18" wheels and Michelin PS AS3+... ahhhhh.

I don't use Apps much but yes if you have Spotify on your phone (it has to be running), you can access some controls on the steering wheel and you'll see an app on your Nav and songs on your HUD.

You can just use the car's Bluetooth to pick up whatever music is playing on your phone, or even better is the BMW Media USB phone connector for the console for your phone since it can use the steering buttons and charge also--although the car's USB charging amperage is really low and slow, barely useful. I use a separate power-plug charger cable into the rear 12V console socket that's much higher amperage for charging.

Wow John thanks for the help. That really makes much more sense. In my opinion, and I'm very tech-savvy, if it doesn't have Android auto it's pretty much useless, and I don't think Android auto what's available till 2017 or 18 or later? I'm okay with not having the artist and song title show up on my head-up display. I think that whole speed limit reader sounds pretty cool though bit unnecessary

If you have HUD you'll never look at your dash speedo again. It uses speed limit data from your Nav or if data is missing on a rural road it reads road signs. By the way, there are easy ways to download BMW's Nav Map database updates and install them yourself with a thumb drive, at little to no cost (a dealer would charge big). Updates come out 2-3 times a year. I really like turn-by-turn nav on the HUD. Pretty amazing rendering of intersection lanes, countdown of miles/feet to turn, etc.
