I followed a 320d wih an M badge yesterday. The single oval exhaust and body styling were a bit of a giveaway......

1. I respecced the car a couple of times including adding the Adaptive Drive, but I understood that was ok up until it went into build. So my changes might have pushed the build back. 2. Dealer didn't place the order on BMW when he said he did (might be connected with me contacting him every 5 minutes re: the above ) 3. I kept on badgering the dealer every time I read about all the MY2013 changes including the iDrive software changes saying they must be on the car so he might have moved my build to ensure I got all the changes knowing that he would have a screaming customer if the car came without them (this is my favourite guess). The original delivery date was July 30th based on a May 29th order, then it was moved to delivery 18th August, now it goes into build week 36 and into stock week 38.

My 520d was debadged by the persons who owned it previously to my horror. I like people to know I have a 520D Touring - it is a wonderful car in every way. If anyone in UK wants to sell their 520d badge I will buy it off you.

To make a 520d into 530d simply order car with ambient lighting to get chrome strips on door handles as fitted to all other models. While waiting for car build order genuine BMW 3 series badge from EBay. On way home with new car, stop, use credit card to peel off offending 2 and replace with your shiny new 3. On pulling onto your drive you have a car that looks 30% more expensive. Just remember to replace the 2 when car goes in for service or the guys in the workshop will think what a ********

Original has double sided sticky pad. Degrease area with vinegar and rinse with plain water, dry Use masking tape to set your location. Peel off backing tape and align the characters pressing down firmly when happy. The characters come as a full set on a clear carrier tape that ensures exact spacing. Peel off tape job done.
Did this on my old E60 which returned from accident repair minus badge. To avoid travel body shop sent me the badge. Was told if I get it wrong and needed to reapply, clean off all the black tape and use standard double sided tape it's not as strong but will work fine. |

I've worked out that debadging a 520d doesn't fool anybody. If its black, you know its a 520d

I like the clean look, and it's easier to clean/detail without the badge.

But it's an F11 which gives it extra brownie points and as you've gone for Imperial Blue/Venetian it's really an honorary 530.

Haven't debadged mine yet, but more to the point, why is there still an 'i' at the end? Think anyone thinks it's something else?

The x plaques, sometimes it makes sense to leave them in winter areas to avoid having to put snowchains or risk a fine, like Switzerland ...! However, I think of pulling them too, to be seen, car is delivered in next two weeks or so... |

I used to de-badge my cars in the past.
Mostly because many kids like to "race" cars with bigger engines. or in ways provoke the driver of the bigger engine to floor it. While driving my cars in the past this has happened many times. When de-badged "street racers" don't know what car you drive, unless they can tell on others things, like exhaust etc. Still have the badge on my car, but not sure it will stay though, I like the clean look, and it makes detailing much easier. |

Some people do it for a cleaner look. Some others do it to hide that they have a smaller engine. Others do it for a "stealth" look so others don't know they have a larger engine.
