BMW Mobility Kit vs Aftermarket

Looking to see if anyone has experience with BMW's vs the other brands of emergency tire repair kits. I bought Slime's cheap kit a couple of months back when I rid myself of run-flats and it's OK, but I just rid my wife's car of run-flats as well and looking to get her an easier kit to use (single step vs multiple steps of the Slime kit).

BMW's kit looks great, but noticed that AirMan makes a popular kit as well. Continental makes one, but just like with other brands, only available in the EU market.

Question is, is BMW's $140 kit that much better than AirMan's ResQ Pro+ $60 kit (which is a German company BTW)? Would love any input from your experiences.

Why not just get a plug kit?

I keep a plug kit, pliers, screwdriver, and cheap small compressor in the storage compartment of my trunk. To me, this is the best way to go.

But the plugs can sometimes be a pain to use, like when a small nail is removed, it can be hard to get the reamer in the hole, and it can also be hard to insert the plug into the hole if it hasn't been teamed fully.

(Not saying your wife isn't strong enough, just that I have had a hard time myself in the past with plugging some holes in tires.)

Definitely something to be said about the convenience of RFTs being able to get you to a shop without too much worry.

I'd like to hear the answer to this as well as I'm planning to ditch runflats this winter.

Plug kit is good when you can take the wheel off to fix it (requires jack, wrench, etc), but I wouldn't want to carry all that and do it on the side of a twisty mountain road in snow at 20F. Mobility kit is supposed to get you going with minimum effort to safety or home. To me that's 2 different use cases.

I've plugged wheels with the wheel on the car before. It's a pain in the ass for rear tires but it's doable.

Which is why I need an easy one [simple] step process for my wife to rely on.

I ended up getting the AirMan for her car - looks pretty solid - equal build quality to the BMW kit I saw at the dealer. I'm gonna dump the Slime kit I got for my car and get an AirMan as well.

I have one of the slime compressor kits from some US auto parts store I happened to drop into. Fortunately I have not had to use it. My tire plug kit stays at home but maybe I should reconsider that.
