High spec every time, I have a F11 523i MSport with a drinking problem.... 450 miles in, 24.5 mpg average acording to the trip computer. The only thing missing is the de-badge... The USB and heated seats are standard on post march builds.

Did go for the de-badge also, just didn't include it as it's a no cost option

I've owned a 535d touring and a 335d touring both very high spec vehicles. I'm now waiting delivery of a very high spec 520d touring due next month.
I have to admit I wanted a 535d again but matching the spec like for like the car was near £11000 more expensive. I've noticed on other forums that quite a few previous owners of large diesel/petrol engines are down grading too. Ive lost a fortune on bmw's over the years and one thing I've noticed is that after a few years come resale there is very little in resale prices from a 520d to a 535d , certainly not £11000! And that's the crux of the matter. I'm going to loads on my 520d as it is. When I add the saving in running costs into the equation it's a no brainer. More than enough to buy a track day joy and fuel that's for sure |

Agree with others, gone from average spec E61 535d to new high spec F11 520d SE with about £12k options and don't regret decision at all.Get athrill from seeing 600ish mile range pop up on re-fueling!

Awesome. I'm loving the 35k spec on mine. Tell us what you added so I can be envious.

I had £43k to spend on a new company car.....went for High Spec.
520d msport touring Titanium Silver/Black leather 351m 19" wheels Sport Auto Prof Media Xenons DAB Heated USB Ambient Elec folding mirrors Powered tailgate Sun protection Extended Aircon Lumbar support 6nr Smartphone prep Taking into consideration BIK tax etc this was the only real choice for me as do approx 20k business miles a year. I looked at a basic spec 530d se and was tempted but in the end the gadgets won! |

I went high spec 520d, as I tend to potter anyway so thought what's the point of using 30% of the performance of a 530d rather than 70% of a 520d. Mines only got about 2,500 miles on it and I'm usually getting 50mpg on the (somewhat pedestrian, early morning) drive to work...

So I wasn’t the only one with this predicament.
Ideally I would’ve liked a 535 but didn’t want to sacrifice my luxuries in aid of extra hp, so in the end I decided on a nicely equipped 530d M Sport. When I test drove the 530 it didn’t feel under powered so that’s what sealed the deal. Last edited by J13NY S; 03-08-2011 at 12:40 PM.. |
