Warranty question
I had a 328iS for 15 years, but recently purchased a new-to-me 2016 535i that is still under warranty coverage for a few more months. I've never had any vehicle under warranty, so I'm not at all sure how the system works or how to use it most effectively.
I've researched a bit online - it looks like I am ineligible to receive the Maintenance Program as I am not the original owner and did not purchase the vehicle from a BMW dealer. So, it would appear that am I simply left with coverage for any manufacturer defects which may show up in the next few months. Is that correct or am I missing anything? |

I purchased a 2015 5er last year and it was explained to me the same way. Wasn't eligible for the maintenance program as I wasn't the original owner (I believe they said that stopped with the 2014 or 2015 models) but was still covered under the original manufacturer warranty. Ended up purchasing an extended bumper to bumper warranty the dealer offered through Zurich for another 20k miles.
As far as use of the warranty, if something fails that is covered under your warranty, from what I understand you'd bring the car into the dealership (or have it towed), service would research to hopefully find the cause of the issue if it's not readily apparent, and then the warranty would cover the cost. |

That's a good idea. I had seen someone else mention that elsewhere on the forum. I have a local shop that I trust, so I'll have them check it out before the warranty expires.
