Left Hand Side rear footwell is wet

Hi all,

I was having a great Sunday washing my car and then vacuuming it, when I came across the LHS rear footwell was damp.

I couldn't feel any dampness from under the front seat, the B pillar and from the tunnel.

Any ideas on how (apart from someone spilling a bottle of water, which didn't happen)?

I'm leaning towards a sunroof drain?

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks

I know in my old E39 it was missing plastic plugs from under the car body. Installed replacement plugs and the rear floor was never wet again. Perhaps the F10 is still the same BMW design, worth a look underneath the car.

...or could it be the same issue that plagued the e39 and other 3/5/7/X series which was the door's vapor barrier was the culprit...the adhesive would fail and water that runs down inside the door...instead of it being directed toward the door drains...would follow the path of least resistance and flow into the rear foot well.

There should still be tons of info and video (on YouTube) about this issue.

Edit: here's a video that shows what happens with a failed vapor barrier:

Thank you for your responses. Going to the workshop on Saturday, so I'll check both suggestions out and report back.
