Def looking to do this too! My screen has some dead pixels; seems to have been intentionally inflicted by prev owner. Love the engine cover mod too. It's subtle and I can appreciate the fact that it's uncommon too. The price ain't that bad. Btw, where in Socal are you?

wonder if this unit has carplay built in? I'm going to install the Bimmertech carplay module which is around the same price but will consider this if it has apple carplay.

It probably does, it's essentially an android tablet slapped on your dash.

Not sure if it has a Carplay. This one https://avinusa.com/12-3-multimedia-...2010-2017.html has a touchscreen (only in Android mode) and a wireless carplay. You can also order TV tuner for it.
Another interesting thing is that it "Supports both our optional Bluetooth OBD2 and WIFI OBD2 adapters. Now when paired with apps like Torque you can see what your car is doing in realtime, get OBD fault codes, car diagnostic, car performance, sensor data, and more!"

I pretty much did the same thing but sorta reverse.
I did an interior swap on my F10 as well from having an Oyster White base interior to Black Napa Leather Seats with Rear Seat Entertainment. I also swapped out the whole interior including door cards, headliner and dashboard. Also retrofitted M5 steering wheel with 6WB Cluster and a 12.3 iDrive Display. Swapped out base audio system for Harman Kardon Audio. I'm also finishing up my ambient lighting upgrade so it should all come together soon. I went with the Aluminum Hexagon Interior Trims.

I would like to pick your brain sometime, would definitely love to retrofit m5 seats into mine.

That is a good question, basically it boils down to if you can install Google appd store or not. If Google app store is available, then you can install MHD and get fancy gauges while you drive. I don't have one so I don't know but maybe someone who has it can answer this question.

Yup, you should be able to. These units have the Google play store on them (at least the ones I have played around with since multiple manufacturers sell similar units with different skins on Android) so you can download the app straight from the Play store.

Even if you get a unit without the Play Store, you can also side load the MHD application file and install it onto the unit.
