F10 2011 520D EGR Cooler issue

Hello. Believe my EGR cooler has a leak of exhaust gases, can smell from under the bonnet on the cold start. Did anyone come across such a problem and is it best to just replace it or is there a way to repair? Pictures show what I believe are the signs of exhaust gases leaking. I've also had a drive train error come up about two weeks ago.

I know some coolers can be replaced under recall. My sons 520d cooler has been replaced free of charge. Check with your local dealer if there is any recall on yours
