MHD tune didn't pass emissions test

I just flunked the emissions test in Ohio...
The dude was a dick, he asked me to pop the hood and told me he was looking for cats.. asked me if I modified the car.

I guess I will flash back to stock and try again.

I have no ses lights.... my buddy with the same set up passed

Where at in Cleveland? This is one of the hangups with me and why I haven't gotten a tune yet.

I tried to get tested back when I had my Subaru at the one in West Park and some ultra try-hard, Heath Ledger looking dude laid in a puddle to look for cats because my car was too low for the mirror... popped the hood and saw I had an aftermarket catted downpipe and failed me immediately. Even if it was a stock downpipe, the cats aren't visible under the car.

I swapped stock back on and got tested at the one in Berea and they didn't even use a mirror or pop the hood, which showed I wasted a couple hours swapping it out.

I got flagged at the one on canal road
There is a do it yourself in Berea that my buddy passed.

I'm going to flash back to stock and take it up there.

You have to check OEM/Catted-DP option in order to enable catalytic converter monitoring on. Otherwise on emission test it will show that catalytic converter is not supported and you will fail the test. Even going back to stock map you have to change this setting.

By default MHD disables this monitoring so you have to go into flash option and enable this.

Also, you can go into read error codes and there it will show you if your emission systems are ready or not.

Does bm3 have the same thing ? if so all I would have to swap back to is my stock charge pipe ?

This is for downpipe catalytic converter monitoring and has nothing to do with chargepipe.

Not sure about bootmod3 as I have not used it or did research on it. For me MHD was plain and simple and to the point .

Weird... I thought emissions would be a state requirement.

Any idea how long or how many drive cycles I should do before I go back and get it tested again?

I went back to stock with cat/downpipe checked.

It's very hot but the car feels sluggish...can't wait to get the tune back in the car

I was able to reset most of monitors minus the evaporative with 2 drive cycles by:

- on cold start idle for 2.5 minutes with ac on max and defroster on. Basically max load on idle.

- drive under 30mph for about 2 minutes and never clearing 3k rpm and no stopping.

- drive 50mph for about 5 minutes also never clear 3k rpm on any shift and no stopping.

- let car idle 5 minutes

This worked for me.

Here's the recommendation

All I had to do was drive around for 30 mins.

You should have checked in error code area for if everything is ready or not.

Quick question guys
So lets say I get the VRSF Downpipe installed on my 2012 535 and have the stage II MHD tune

Can I pass emissions in Illinois if I do the following
1)Flash car back to stock
2) Have the catted DP option checked
3) Do the drive cycle?

I don't understand what all this other stuff about a DP fix is that I am reading on f30 post

One more note.

In Illinois:
Remember, vehicles are rejected when more than two (2) non-continuous readiness monitors are “not ready” for 1996 to 2000 model year vehicles, or when more than one (1) non-continuous readiness monitor is “not ready” for 2001 and newer model year vehicles. Additionally, the catalyst monitor must be “ready” at the time of any retest after a vehicle failed an initial test for any catalyst code.

So looks like we can have one non continuous monitor show up as "not ready".

Do I even have to flash MHD back to stock?
