Amazon / Walmart Prime Days

Geez, the one year I actually buy something on Amazon Prime Day there is no thread. C’mon Marcus.

Anyway, picked up a Breville toaster oven for $129, less $10 credit from Whole Foods, so $119. This is for a vacation condo. We bought the same one for our home a couple of years ago for $179. I’m interested in checking the price when Prime Days end...

I haven’t found much else of interest (and still think most of the stuff is really old / clearance type items). But I will probably invest the time looking through both Amazon and Walmart deals since we have a bunch of stuff to buy and clearance stuff is ok.

That's a good deal! I purchased a Breville Toaster Oven many years ago from Williams Sonoma and it only lasted ~3 years. The convection feature went out and the unit essentially became a very large toaster/warmer. I was terribly disappointed it died so quickly.

I've been scouring amazon all morning. I've finally reached that age where I don't really need anything bad enough to buy it just to save a few dollars. I've been all through Adams polishes products, Chemical Guys (not a huge fan of their stuff other than their DA polishing pads), Dyson products, car jacks, jack stands and miscellaneous stuff for the garage. Didn't see anything worth pulling the trigger on.

Marcus is apparently still on amazon. I actually came here this morning to see what all he had bought so far and see what deals others had got for ideas. Surprised this thread wasn't started by him.

I'm eyeing a skeetervac. Problem is, its fricking expensive to get it to Canada. May switch over to a mosquito magnet or something.

Years back, I bought a mosquito magnet from Amazon, along with a warranty they sold. It never worked that well and stopped working altogether shortly after the return window closed. The warranty company refused to honor the warranty Amazon sold me because no one was in my area. Amazon refused to take back the product or refund me the warranty cost. I stopped shopping on Amazon for a long time after that experience and still cringe when I hear or read "Mosquito Magnet" anywhere.

I was hoping to find a Dyson V8 Absolute but it’s not there. Dyson sure has some odd naming conventions.

Same here...been that way for awhile. If it weren't for my wife, I probably wouldn't have any clothes newer than 6 months.

I just don't spend aside from something for one of the cars. I got so much car care stuff, tools, specialty tools, etc.....I really don't need anything.

Same here. I've had a Dyson Digital Slim Pro for years. I'd like to get something with a little more power but I refuse to spend big money on a vacuum when the one I have now works just fine. That's $300-500 bucks I can either spend on the car or just not spend at all.

We were at Costco last week and noticed they have the V8 Animal for $300. It doesn’t include the head for hard floors, which is our primary concern. But not a bad deal if you are dealing mostly with carpet.

That's not a terrible deal, but I'm a hard wood guy.

Agreed. And you don't have to wear ear plugs like those awful Dysons.

We have a Miele for our primary residence but looking for something small-ish, light and cordless for vacation condo, which is basically Dyson, Tineco or Shark. The Miele is great, just not for this application.

Walmart had prime day too? I just ordered something from walmart I'm thinking of canceling amazon prime so I don't have to pay annual dues. Have been having issues as of late but they will not refund so it will only cancel at renewal time.

Walmart doesn’t call it Prime Day - it is summer sale something... but intent is to compete with Prime day:

Sound like a great way to have fun and either get Killed or end up in jail!

I switched from our Dyson stick vacuum to a Shark. It was on sale for 40% off and came with a bunch of accessories. They always seem to be having a sale.

It's not as well designed as the Dyson, dust sticks in lots of crevices, the dust bin doesn't come off completely for cleaning and the filter is a less direct design. But it's massively quieter, seems to suck harder, has replaceable batteries and cost a few hundred less than the comparable Dyson.

The Shark models look very good. If we had more carpet and a bigger place, I think it would win out since you don't need to switch heads for floor and carpet with that duoclean system plus the replaceable batteries. But my wife likes the weight / weight distribution and HEPA filter of the Dyson after picking it up and trying it. We don't need it right away so I'm just keeping an eye out for sales and could end up with either one but I am guessing Dyson so I don't need to hear complaining later. I already tried convincing her of a less expensive corded unit without success.

Agreed. Had one for awhile, marginal results and not worth the propane refills etc.
