Whining noise when turning steering wheel/cornering. *VIDEO with sound*
YouTube clip with sound:
I've had this issue for a while now. There is a high pitch noise when i'm turning my steering wheel/cornering. The sound disappear if I put my car into N and turn steering wheel/drive around corners. Not sure what it is. I've been to two garages, no one knows what it is. We even lifted the car up, drove it, while they used a "listening tool". No luck. One garage just "guessed" power steering pump, so we changed it. But nothing got better. Info about the car: BMW F11 535D X-Drive N57Z 2011-08-24 - 223 Dynamic Damper Control - 229 Dynamic Drive Dynamic Drive - 2VA Adaptive Drive Adaptive Drive It is NOT: - Wheel bearing(we've checked at both garages, and hey... the sound disappears in N. So it can't be wheel bearing) - Brake shield - The "common" X-Drive fault with drive axles in front. They are both changed 4000km ago. BUT maybe this has something to do with it, can't remember if the sound was there before the change, unfortunately. Any help is appreciated greatly! I will post the solution, when I find it. |

Wheel bearings can make some weird noises I can tell you that, some won’t really hear bad on the lifts only when there’s weight on them, I would start with both front wheel bearings as you should change them in pair
