Audio upgrade help (2016 F10)
I have a 2016 F10 with the base sound system.
I have ordered some ETON speakers to upgrade the front speakers, along with those on the rear shelf. But I have some questions... 1. Do I have an amplifier, and is it in the boot/trunk on the left side? 2. With it being the base system, do I have sub woofers under the seats, if not, will I have any wires? Finally, the centre speaker is missing entirely and I cannot spot any wiring. Will there be any? Thanks in advance |

Hi.
I've created a guide in the DIY section for F10's with the base sound system. If you want to read through it will answer most of your questions. Check it out here. To answer your questions briefly: 1: Your car does not have a dedicated amplifier. If you want to install an amplifier the left side of the boot/trunk is a common place to do so though. 2: You do have subwoofers under your front seats. You can upgrade them if you want, but I highly recommend adding an amplifier if doing so. 3: I don't think there's any wiring to the front spot for center speaker. I have not added one yet as I think the gains would be minimal compared to adding tweeters in the A-pillars. I wouldn't worry about adding a center speaker, I'd much rather add an amplifier. If you have any questions feel free to ask, either here or in my guide. |

Thank you very much...
1 more question before I head over to your guide. I have seen many videos on YouTube where they upgrade the amp, which looks easy with a built up cost on harness. But... will I even have any wires there? |

No problem, glad to help.
You won't have any wires in the left area of the trunk. But seeing as the battery is located in the trunk as well running +12V and ground to an amplifier is easily done. Running wires to the underseat subwoofers take a bit more time, but still not too bad. If you want to check a simple diagram I made of the wiring needed.. You guessed it.. Check out my guide |
