Hi All,

Long time lurker, first time poster. The information on these forums has helped in more ways than I can count, so thank you.

I'm new to the F10 (2011, N63) as of a few months ago. Bottom line is I picked it up for cheap as it was misfiring. As a former mechanic, I was able to fix all the issues and it's now in perfect running order. Total investment, including the purchase price is under $10k.

With 79K miles on it, you'd think it'd be worth holding onto and driving for a few years. I LOVE this car. The power is intoxicating and it's comfortable.

However… I've read countless posts about how awful the N63 is. I understand that if I keep it, I'll eventually be doing rod bearings, valve stem seats, potentially turbos, and other things. The scary part is it seems I'm right at that mileage where these things will soon start failing. The former owner missed the boat on the CCP also.

What I don't want to do is spend the majority of my time with this car tearing it apart and fixing it. I also don't want to be into it for more than it's worth.

So, I'm looking for someone more experienced with the N63 to tell me what I think I already know. Should I sell it or keep it?

Sell it ASAP. The pre-lci N63 motors are ticking time bombs. It's not an if, but when. If you really enjoy the car, get a 2014 or newer. They come with the N63TU "technical update" motor that has most of its predecessors issues taken care of.

I honest love this car the power the comes to life after you push paddle to the metal nothing compares.

I have a 11 had a decent amount of gremlins , had the ccp done at 85k motor has run strong since then . Get ready to replaced a lot . I've done everything myself but invest in a laptop and ista it will be ur best friend

Thanks all. I'm currently looking for a replacement. It's unfortunate that it seems that all generations of the N63 have issues. I've decided to pursue an F18 M3. Thanks again.

Smart. ALL N63 are flawed, some people just don't like hearing it. I would say only own a N63 car with a good warranty.

Even the newer N63 are prone to failure or it's too early to tell? Reason I ask is that the N63 is still used in the G30 M550i albeit in its TU3 flavor.

Too soon to tell but I assume some common issues/headaches will carry over

Any older bmw os going to end yp needing work done as the miles increase. I just saw a 535i with 103k miles and a blown motor at the shol yesterday.

If you pay attention to the car and do the work yourself than you shpuldnt be affraid of keeping this car. Rod bearings only cost 3k to have replaced if you pay a shop. If the n63 worries you that much than just have them done now.

Look over the car and check the oil at least once a week and you will be just fine.

Slme people who dont own an n63 like to reiterate stories theyve read, but they have no actual experience with owning or working on the car. I would suggest only following afvice from people who own or have owned an n63.
