Cleaning Int Door Hand Panel
How do you all clean your door panels, specifically the rubber part? I got the leather cleaned, but I really want to bring the rubber handle panel back to new looking. I've tried Mr Clean Magic Erasers, but they don't do all that well on rubber and are not good on the recessed areas.
I was thinking a brush with a heavier detergent of some sort but then worried that the liquid would get into the window switches. A brush also won't get the bottom of the door handle very well. BTW This is dirty again, and I cleaned the rest of the car, but when I saw this I was like, damn it I want this like new! hah. Help |

Thanks that's definitely an option. If there was any wear or if I can't bring them back I'll go that route. I like to replace or clean anything that has any wear. Some bits of leather are just now starting to show their age too.

You can replace it but it is a simple die job, or paint. It really painting leather which is also what the factory does. In LA I found a guy who's going to fix my seat, but it looks different than what you have there. Mine is from a detailer not knowing what he was doing. (Get seat detailed at a normal car wash? sounds great... but that's another story.)
But fixing leather like yours is common. Ask real detailers, ask higher end car washes, or those places with all the awful seat covers tend to actually know how to repair leather too. |

I would 2nd getting that armrest painted, if done professionally it would be almost discernible and really improve the look of your car. I HATE the rubber trim that the door handles use, my driver and passenger side are melted and disintegrating on my car. It is a 2011 so it's kind of old and not garage kept, but I have had Toyota's Honda's and Ford's interior trims hold up better.

ebays got 'em but you're going to have the same issues very soon after.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2011-2016-B...ry!90004!US!-1 You may find them new like this (wrong color) https://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-F10-53...erior/Armrest/ but painting is the proper way, the way BMW would repair it. The same way people with high end classic cars would repair it... |

Clean and protect all rubber door, trunk and hood seals. ... Spray your vinyl protectant on the applicator, not on the dash or console, and wipe it in thoroughly. ... or foam swab (electronics part-cleaning swabs from Radio Shack) to clean out the dirt. ... Choose a cleaner made specifically for interior surfaces.
Quick tip: I use a baby tooth brush Hope this helps |
