HAM got penalized so the stewards determined that he was at fault but some of these comments read like HAM ran, hit or forced VER off the track. Up to that point, VER was being aggressively defensive and gave HAM consideration many times. Should HAM be closer to the inside? Sure, but VER turned into HAM to make the turn. Again, perhaps HAM shouldn't have been there but if VER is going to be aggressive/defensive, he should have the awareness of where his car is relative to HAM.

Go look at the exact point of contact. HAM got penalized but everyone here is defending VER like HAM purposely forced him out when it was a "racing" incident where one assumed the position of another car in error.

F1 didn't conclude it was a racing incident. As a penalty was awarded.

By racing incident, I meant that both were driving and there was a misjudgement - one driver didn't perform a sudden and erratic movement. I'm not excusing HAM or calling the penalty nonsense, the penalty was given so there was fault but to read some of these comments like HAM forced VER out is comical. Was HAM slightly off where he should have been? Perhaps or maybe, but his path likely wasn't going to be driving into VER.

My view is it was 60 HAMs fault 40 VER. I agreed with one of the commentators that both could’ve given each other more room. You guys are kidding yourself if you don’t think Max turning into Lewis was an accident. He knew he was there and thought Lewis would back off like he has every time in these situations this year. He obviously didn’t. Max was all over the track (and off) trying to defend. He almost completely lost it going wide in one corner. Hence my comment to let Lewis pass, gather himself and get Lewis later in the race.

Every WDC or even winning driver has made mistakes that put people in danger. It’s the nature of the sport, especially at the top.

I have a different opinion on the situation and I am a Merc fan(sshhhhh). Max was doing the Alonso weaving from Saturday sprint race.

It's cannot be appealed. The race is over and the results fixed. Moreover, there is precedent for this which RBR has benefited from multiple times with VERs aggressive driving.

Racing incident. Glad VER is ok. VER has banked on other drivers backing out when he drives erratically...

VER hit HAM earlier in the race. Pls go back and look at the footage.

There was almost a full carwidth room on the inside where HAM was.
So VER should leave 2 extra carwidth room?

HAM made a very dangerous move that caused VER to crash very hard.

Did HAM make VER crash very hard on purpose? No probably not.
Did HAM force his way to the inside (middle) of the corner while not being ahead creating a very dangerous situatlin? Yes.

It is that F1 cars are now so safe, but 25 years ago ther would have been a great risk of dying in such an incident as the speeds are very high in that particular corner

Not a racing incident. HAM's fault but the lukewarm penalty against him is in dispute.
