Mineral White Metallic for the F10
I was quoted $5300 to get this color on a special order F10. Is it worth it vs. simply getting Alpine White?
I'm planning to put a deposit down on a F10 in a couple of weeks and have been agonizing over the exterior color choice. I like white in general, but I was hoping BMW would have a shade of white that had more "character" than the starkness of AW (which I do like as well). Then I noticed that both the 7 series and the M3 have the Mineral White option. |

Wow and this is just for paint ! Sorry, I have to say not worth the $. If you do end up ordering it, the first year or so, you may feel your Mineral white stands out, but after that you probably would say, "white is white" as the paint starts to age .....
For that, you could have totally loaded up your car or a set of nice 20" forged wheels Just my 2cents. |

Got picture of it?
Honestly, for that price, I think there's a special matte paint which stands out really nicely in the crowd. It is one of those "frozen" exterior color. |

I'm with you in that the refrigerator white is pretty bla and I would have picked a metallic white if available, but for that kind of money it's just simply not worth it - save the money. The best feature of having the Alpine White is that anyone will be able to match it when you encounter your first fender bender.

$ 5300 is a disgrace, the mineral white looks awesome though:
Especially if you're living in a sunny climate.

Yea, when I was ordering my F10 I mentioned to the CA that wifey and I hated the colors BMW offered for that model. He told us that BMW would paint your car a color from any model (as long as the car was manufactured in Germany) for $5000 MSRP ($4550 invoice). If there was a really fantabulous color available we would have considered it but the dark green (Deep Green metallic?) and dark red (Damask Red), while preferable, weren't worth the $$$$.

I would love to get a car painted in Ruby Black. I've seen pictures of it. Fabulous. Google for "BMW Ruby Black".
I've seen an E92 M3 in "Brilliant White". Also a nice color. Slight hint of green in the metallic flake. |

Alpine White is BMW's race color, so it's never going to go out of style. White is a relatively easy color to maintain, and hides swirls and paint imperfections fairly well. 5300 is insane though. You're much better off getting something more functional like DHP, or Nappa leather, or HUD.

Mate Don't do it, it's just a waste of money that will never be recovered.

If it were a $1000, I'd say do it. But $5300? That's a waste of money.

I agree with everyone else here.
Also... a friend of mine bought a pearl white Mazda 6 and 1 week after he bought it, someone Liberace'd it. He ended up taking it back 3 times to try and get it matched (it still isn't) and most Panel Beaters he spoke to cursed pearl white cars. He begrudgingly accepted a substandard colour match. Obviously there are people out there that can match, but they may be few and far between. |

Just order a standard colour... and then have it wrapped the right shade of white for you!
Will be cheaper, and when you peel it off to sell the car the paint underneath will still be new!

I don't get the attraction to white cars - It's only my opinion obviously, but they are so bright, hard to keep clean and after a short while of being popular, far too common. When I chose the colour, I immediately crossed white and black of the list. Just my 2p worth.

I'm coming from a Jet Black 335i, and after 3 years with this car, I simply can't stand the swirl scratches. It's had 2 paint correction details since I bought it, but the swirl marks come back so quickly no matter how careful I am (hand washing, microfiber towels, etc.).
Part of the appeal for white is to have a color that best hides the swirl marks. But $5300 just seems too much for me, especially after reading all these replies. I've decided to stick with AW and get the Sport and Dynamic Handling packages for the money. |
