I got the nxm plates. But I have an early n55 so the mounting holes didn't line up, I had to slightly modify them.

The kit comes with longer boots for the coils and the wire harness, so you need more than just the brackets.

Hmm, I too have an early N55 so modifying the existing holes is interesting.

On another note, I believe your Instagram is @bimmerhausperformance, different than what's on your sig

Thanks, it is updated. I didn't modify the hole itself, just used oversized washers to pin them down. I will do a you tube video soon.

First time hearing about b58 coils. Care to elaborate? Curiosity has gotten me. Cost? Benefits?

***********[dot]com/threads/ignition-coil-secondary-spark-energy-comparison-n54-n55-b58-and-pr.7169/

From that thread's conclusion:
Quote:
In conclusion: The B58 coil is a light, low profile coil that produces substantial spark energy over a long spark duration. The B58 coil's shorter dwell time places less load on ignition IGBT's while matching the Precision Raceworks coil in total energy delivered over the spark event.

Practically speaking, I have better spark which translates to better combustion, less timing corrections, which builds boost faster and allows me to turn boost up because I get less knock.

There is a check box within MHD you can check for these coils, but if you are on a custom tune your tuner will be able to add boost if you have the fuel available.

The coils are one cost... you can google B58 Coils from FCP or ECS, then the kit to adapt them to your car from nxm is a separate cost. Kit is the wire harness, install plates, and the longer boots for the coils.

So I've been rocking the B58 coils for a couple weeks now (Eldor B58 coils sourced from FCP along with the Nexsys conversion kit). I can attest that even on the stock PWG turbo the improvement is noticeable. Both in idle and WOT, but also in normal driving. As I was telling others, the rev-range feels "effortless". It's still hard to describe but it feels butter smooth and VERY responsive.

Having said that, I am truly happy with it. Is this something for everyone? Probably not.

I cannot tell if I feel more power or not. I honestly do not think so (on my baby PWG stock turbo). I personally did it being aware of the many benefits of having a stronger voltage & longer duration spark. This improvement will mostly be felt when pushing the limits of the ignition system once equipped with a larger turbo (which I intend to do). A tuner can push the limits of boost and ignition timing FURTHER and SAFELY.

Who would I recommend this to?
- ALL who are going to run a larger turbo, point blank. Is it NEEDED, no. Is it better than N55 Eldor coils, or PR coils? According to testing over in "that unspoken other forum", yes if it! Which means better tuning potential for you. I can again confirm that they have made a noticeable improvement as stated above
- ANY N55 owner that is ODC about smoothness. It made my car feel newer than it is. This is from someone rocking a fresh set of plugs and full stock gap AND new Eldor coils (with which I was very happy with... until I switched to this B58 kit and was blown away).

Hope my opinion helps others!

Brow.. and BlkMax... I currently have step colder plugs, If I go with the B5b coils, should I use the same colder plugs?.. or go with what was stock?

Well, now you've got me interested.

My F10 is 3 or 4/2011 production (different places say different things). As far as I know I have original coils, but the plugs have supposedly been replaced under a warranty RO by the dealer. (The injectors were also supposedly replaced, but I'm suspicious whether it was done, or it was done and they skipped coding the compensation numbers into the DME because it's never idled quite right since they replaced all of the injectors. I'm going to explore if I have any hope of reading the flow compensation numbers off of the injectors while they're installed. Based on research I don't think I want to pull them just to read a number and then reinstall them.)

Anyways - Any good threads or guides on choosing the right adapter kit depending on the different versions of things one might have etc...? Maybe I'll put B58 coils and plugs on the 2022 list along with a few other things, but I would be ordering cross-border so I need to get all the right stuff the first time.

You can use your same colder plugs as you have a PS2. But you'll be able to run a larger gap (be sure to speak to your tuner if you're on custom tuning as they'll be able to further adjust your tune and tell you exactly what gap to run the plugs at)

PM me the last 7 of your VIN and I'll tell you exactly when it rolled out the factory.

So mine was built April 2011 and this is what my injector bracket looks like (metal T)...

So the Nexsys kit that is currently made works perfectly on this kit. BroBMW's has the early N55 injector bracket/ plate and it's that format that would require the slight modding to make it fit. Nexsys is allegedly working on an early N55 kit already but I do not know when it will release.

Yea unfortunately to see the #s on our injectors they do have to come up and out of the cylinder head as they are on the side. Meaning you'll want to have 6 decoupling elements (metal crush ring seals) and 6 nylon seals (the seals at the tip of the injectors). None of them are reusable.
