2012 versus 2016 TPM sensors?
I have recently installed 17" wheels, tires and TPM sensors from a 2012 F10 on my 2016 F10. If viewed from the dash screen, the vehicle sees each sensor and displays a green tire on all four corners. However, it will not display the individual tire pressures. On the bright side, there is no tire-pressure warning light on the instrument panel. I have gone through the prerequisite TPMS reset procedure without success, so I am thinking that there was a manufacturing change in the F10 between model years 2012 and 2016.

2012 F10 do not show pressure, just the green tire. There is a software change that will display pressure and temp with the 2012s. Suprised the tire modules have changed the display?

Pressure and temp can be coded as long as the newer sensors are installed. I did it on our 2012. |

Thanks for your replies.
From the above, it's unclear if the 2012 sensors are capable of sending tire pressures or is that a function of sensors used in later models. On the other hand, it seems that if programmed a 2012 F10 will display tire pressure and temperature using the older sensor. At the moment, the 2012 sensors are functioning as intended if installed in a 2012 F10 and not creating instrument warning light. I might let the air out of one tire to verify if this changes one (of four) tires on the display from green to red. At least that would indicate if the sensors are actually functioning. |

Looks like the tire sensor where optional before 4/2014, they have the metal valve stem to support the sensor. Previous tire monitors used the ABS tire rotation sensor to detect a change in rolling diameter to sense a flat tire. I have read the option started 2013, but my 2012 has the metal valve stem and they are listed in the parts list. Check out realoem dot com for your cars parts diagram, great source. I have my coding stuff but have not got it set up yet, but seeing tire pressure and temp is one of the first things I want to code, as I do not use run flats.
