n63tu BMS stage 1 settings
So i purchased a stage 1 from a fellow forum member to install on my stock 14 550xi. checked the BMS website for install/adjustment info and the site shows a photo with the "default" detting at the 3 o'clock position.
I recall seeing some discussion when reading about the stage 1 prior to purchase that the 11 o'clock position was the default. Sorry if redundant but i could not find any consensus on prior posts. I will be running stock so just want a daily driving setup. Thanks in advance |

to close this out, and for anyone interested in the future, I e-mailed Burger and they told me 12 o'clock. I will be doing this tonight and installing. If I have any issues I will report back, otherwise should be good.

So which way increases power? 12 o'clock or 3 o'clock? Set mine at 4 o'clock and don't feel that much difference. Stage 1 on N55 was much more noticeable.

Just wanted to post a quick update here. I reached out to Burger and the default setting is 12 o'clock and increases the boost by 3 PSI. This is optimal for for folks who use 91 octane is what I was told (makes sense). The max setting is a 4 PSI boost increase.
Since my last oil change I upped the setting from 12 o'clock to 3 o'clock (just short of the max setting), since I use 93 Octane. So far no issues (knock on wood) but haven't really been driving hard. Can't tell the difference at this point but car does feel stronger with the BMS Stage 1 than without. One thing I noticed is that is seems there is a slight increase in oil temps (versus stock) since I put back on. This would make sense (more boost, higher temps) but just an observation. Not causing issues but something worth noting. Anyway, just wanted to add a little more info on this question. Hope it helps some folks. |

It could be coincidence on the oil temps. I have a stock 2016 550x and I find here in Houston my oil temps fluctuate quite a bit. I find that the temps can rise quite a bit sitting in traffic and sometimes while cruising.
What I find interesting is when I was in Canada over the summer in banff, where the temps were in the 60s oil temp was rock solid one the car. Only time I would see increasing oil temps was slow up mountain crawls. Generally I find my oil temps stay in the 205-240f range. Basically above the tick between the 140-250 mark but never quite at 250. My x5m never fluctuates. It sits solid at 200f. I have seen it hit 270f while towing in the mountains. |

True and great points. I see the same but noticed the slightly higher temps once the piggyback went back on. that said, I also notice it is slightly higher in sport mode vs comfort. All circumstantial for sure and not a concern...just an observation
