2011 F10 Retrofitting Kafas and HBA

I want to retrofit sli, high beam assist and lane departure. It a EU begin 2011 F10.
I've already bought the kafas camera + module.
The car left the factory with a rear view mirror which automatically dims including the outside mirrors.
I've ordered a new rear view mirror with number 9224341 which has the
following options:
For vehicles with
NATIONAL VERSION JAPAN L807A=No
and
Alarm system S302A=Yes
and
Integrated universal remote control S319A=No
and
High-beam assistant S5ACA=Yes
and
Lane departure warning S5ADA=Yes
and
SPEED LIMIT INFO S8THA=Yes

I excepted that a lens was attached to the mirror but it wasn't. The mirror is exactly the same as what I already have.

I would expect this:

How are these parts attached and do I really need another rear view mirror?
How is the lens for the high beam assistent attached and can this be ordered separate?

You have to be more specific.
Do you already have the kafas camera mounted and what year is your car?

First you need to replace the windscreen. After that you have to add the wiring for the kafas and install the ecu.

Hello,
Could you please share your experience ?
I would like to retrofit kafas camera.
I'm going to change my windschield (replace mine, which is broken, by one suitable on my pre LCI F11, P/N 51317203148)
If i understood, the other P/N i need are :
- ECU 66519307422
- Camera 66519281720
-Cable 61119246959
May i need a FSC for the Speed Limit Info (P/N 66502444948) too?i thought it was only for Kafas 2?
Where the ECU is located? How do you connet the ECU to the rest of the
electrical network? Do you have electrical schemas?
Thank you in advance,
Jean-Christophe

You don't need a fsc for kafas 1 camera.
The kafas ecu is installed next to the zgw module. I can look up the wiring for you. What year and month is your car?
I'll check all the p/n. Give me a couple of days.

I'll also share my experience about the interior mirror.

Hi,
I'm still working on kafa retrofit.
As explained in the following picture, I need to connect a wire in a connector in the fuse box (connector : Z1*7B, fuse 44)

The connector is as follow :

Someone please could confirm (or not) the contact needed to connect a wire in this connector has the reference 12521737772
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=61_3464

I show another photo of the connector (taken from my F11) in which we can see the contacts...

Last question please : how is possible to extract a such contact from the connector ? I need a special tool ?

Thank you in advance

These should be the correct "Crimps" for ALL harnesses in the F10. The first has a 8 inch wire tail and also has a rubber grommet on the back end of the Crimp which needs to be removed. Then use a "Greenlee Textron 8026 Ergonomic CrimpALL 8000 Open Barrel Non-Insulated Terminal Crimper" from Amazon, or a pair of pliers to crush down the insulation end of the Crimp. IF you use pliers, you will have to fiddle with it because there is not much room in the OEM harness to accept Insulation end of Crimps. To remove any crimps, you can purchase a "
OTC 4461 6-Piece Terminal Release Tool Set with Case " from Amazon or, if the particula harness has a view of the Little tab retaining the Crimp, you can simply push down on that Tab and release the wire.

With respect to the Crimps referenced above and obtainable from www.getbmwparts.com, the advantage of the wire attached crimp is that you have a FACTORY crimp on the Exposed wire area of the connector. This means that IT WILL NOT pop out on you and makes for easier connecting. But, if you want to go for full factory look, the second part number will give you just the Metal crimp with no attached wire. I would HIGHLY recommend investing in a pair of Crimpers if you go the Metal connection only route.

You can go to www.realoem.com to look at these parts if you want a more detailed view.

Quick questions.

Did you install a switch for the lane departure warning or is it always on by default?

Did you install the vibration motors in the steering column?

Which modules did you have to code? Kombi and Kafas?

Does the Kafas2 camera work with the Kafas1 ECU?

An does someone have the part number of the blue connector connecting to the ECU?

And what is the benefit of having Kafas2 above Kafas1? I only see downsides like you need to buy these expensive FSC codes.

Thanks a lot.
