535d 2014 - Loud actuator/motor like noise when turning engine off
Hi folks,
I am getting an unusual noise like an actuator/small motor for about 5-7 secs when switching the engine off. I have a diesel sedan - 535d 2014 (US), I understand it's equivalent to the 530d in europe. I am attaching a couple of videos with the noise (see here): https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...28?usp=sharing Has anyone experienced the same issue? If so, can you provide guidance on cause of the problem and fix? My car is out of warranty and not sure a trip to the dealer is the right next step. Your time/answer will be appreciated FA. |

Yikes, this sounds bad. I also hear a sound, like a pump turning off, shortly after engine off, but nothing like the whine and the other sound (which sounds like a fan hitting something) in your case.

Well. Took the car to the dealer. It was explained as normal. A pressure release valve doing its job apparently... somehow I am not convinced with the answer. It seems a bit odd for an engine desig like this one to have something as loud as this valve going off every time you shut down the engine.
I do not recall the engine/valve doing that before... |
