Transmission issue - stuck in Park

Hi
I need a help please, my bmw f10 stuck on parking, took it to a bmw indy; he said the mechatronics need to be done, my 2010 bmw f10 has done 170.000 miles, he managed to get a second hand gear box for around £700 from ebay which he has been told had done 54.000 miles but note the same part number, he said it is the same but this one came after 2010.
The gearbox fits nicely but the problem in the computer it says that the part number is different. How can we code a different gearbox to an f10. Please I need help, my car is being sitting for 4 weeks. Someone told me that you shoulld have changed the transmission oil and filter every 40.000 miles

You might post this information on the Coding section of this site. Sounds like the transmission's ECU (computer) isn't flashed/coded correctly to match your car.

did he disconnect battery before replacing
you must do that every time you replace electrical parts unless you have BMW tools to do so.

Youcef, can you share your experience with repair? I have F10 535i xdrive with 100,000km, and my car also is stuck in Park. I'm hoping it's not the transmission and something else....

It's been very cold here for last 2 weeks, like -22C and hoping that when it gets warmer all will go back to normal. I may be dreaming....

Any help would be nice!

Thanks
Sergio

Coincidentally I happened to have stumbled on this today, how to release the transmission.

Someone on this forum had shared a link to this site, it has a repair manual instructions for Bimmers, pick yours and bookmark the page:

https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/

there is also a BMW parts page, extremely useful for DIY out there:

http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/F1...sep2011/browse

same thing, just look for your model and year.

I am sure both will be extremely useful for all DIY out there that were not aware of these resources.

I basically used both for a series of DIY on my Bimmer, without it I would've brought to the stealership.
