Cheap Ebay Strut Tower Bar Review

As the video states, so much to do to get this to fit, it was easier to just do a video:

I can feel a difference, it does help firm things up quite a bit. I'm overall happy and for the price, can't beat it.

Not sure why you had so many issues with yours, mine was like a 10 minute install. Good that you got it in though.

As I mentioned, they ran out of stock of the product and I got a different production run from the factory. So that's where the differences could have come from. Or my car is out of spec and it just didn't fit... lol.

haven't put mine in yet since i'm still working on the dp but i don't know if mine was backordered like yours since i received it before you. i also have coilovers so i shouldn't have any cross threading issues like others. don't have an intake so i won't have to worry about what you had to do with the grommet in the back and having to pull the intake forward. well just see. will let you know how it goes. good to hear you feel a difference which is what everyone wanted to know. great video btw!!!

Thanks for doing the review! Once you removed the sound deadening, did that enable the hood to shut, or was it more than just that causing the clearance issue?

I haven't ordered one yet, but it's on the list

It was WAY more than just the deadening. First of all I had thick washers below the mounts for the bar from the install of the coil overs that I had left there, I couldn't even get one side of my hood to even do the initial click... we are talking 2" plus away from where it needed to be.

To get clearance I:
  • Removed the washers
  • removed the sound deadening
  • changed the arch of the bar
  • moved the air filter forward so the bar sits behind it

Nope it comes with heat shield and top.of hood covers that, so by introducing the bar right now the shield will be useless. I am waiting for ram style intake to come out soon hopefully and install that and then do the bar. Hope it is before summer so I can put it all together with my summer tires.

Why not just slap the stock intake box back on? It's not like OEM replacement intakes do anything for performance.

damn! i was gonna order the K&N filter system this Summer. totally forgot about the heat shield that is used to seal the box. i may just go with a K&N drop in filter as that yielded some pretty good results

this guy is pretty smart. been learning alot watching his reviews

I bet removing the heat shield wouldn't make any difference... A guess, but I doubt it.

Well, like I said in the video, you get what you pay for. And TBH I enjoy figuring out problems. Once this was installed, it does it's job and works so at the end of the day that's all that matters to me. I can probably fit the deadening back on the hood, but I haven't tried yet.

I will have to check with my tuner first and make sure. Also, because I spend 200 dollars on the damn thing. But I have been thinking of going back to stock box.

The reason I got the k&n intake was because of the heat shield due to the intake design on our cars. I think open intake design works better on 335i's unless we go bmwdoubles style custom intake. I guess a good test would be if you running aftermarket intercooler then do some WOT runs and tell me your outside temps vs WOT temps.

I can tell you already - I am running the wagner knock off FMIC and after WOT pulls I'm 10-15 degrees over outside temps.

I think the best solution is going with BMWDouble's intake!!!! Fixes all kinds of problems and adds some sweet sounds!
