Today at the gym I saw someone I hadn't seen in a few years and when we shook hands he clasped early and got my half limp hand. Happens in business too sometimes, that's my gripe for the day, early clamps on handshakes... is it a power move? Are they nervous? You wait till my hand gets in there before you clamp...

Another new low for lack of gym etiquette. If it wasn't bad enough there are plenty of idiots who refuse to clean up after themselves and re-rack the dumb bells they used. Tonight, this fool decides to use a barbell bench press bench for his personal dumb bell rack. So not only does he tie up a barbell bench press bench for no good reason, the ass leaves the dumb bells sitting on the bench after he gets done.

Here's a little trick for you that we teach in our Aikido classes. Something as simple as a handshake years ago was thought of as being an opportunity for an attack, especially if the person is stronger and controls the hand.

The next time someone shakes your hand, grasp with all fingers as usual except for your Index Finger. Leave it extended and pointed straight at the person's center-point or navel.

It sets in chain a series of mechanical advantages in case you were to ever need your hand back in a hurry, and doesn't allow the person shaking your hand to gain any leverage. They can squeeze all they want, but can never seem to find a good grip.

It's also a useful tool for when meeting new people. If my hand is grasped in a similar manner, I know at some point that person has had some type of training.

Gym is starting to get packed with summer right around the corner. College kids rolling in by the dozen it feels like lol. I find myself constantly changing up my workout due to lack of equipment which is half annoying. On a more positive note due to the surge I've been doing some movements that I haven't in a while, so maybe they're doing me a favor in an odd way haha.

Buff kid walks over grabs the 70s and reracks them.
I watch the skinny kid think WTF
Buff kid grabs the 100s that were being blocks and reps them out. Throws them on the ground when he's done.
Made it hard for me to do farmers carries with the 125s with his 100s laying everywhere

I can't deal with AC in the gym. Maybe I'm conditioned to it, but I do work in a very hot environment. But once I break a sweat...I don't want anything cooling me off.

It's another reason why I go at 3:00am......the AC isn't programmed to turn on until 6:00am. That also takes care of having access to any equipment I need.

However we do have hot water for the showers.

Used restroom at gym last night. Watched dude use urinal, then walks out without washing his hands. Then proceeds to spread his junk cooties all over the dumb bells he was handling.

This is one of those I just can't understand. I learned in grade school not to piss on myself/hands. Why does the skin of my schlong have sudden cooties? Where do the cooties/skin border exist? If I adjust the band of my shorts in front, did I just cross the international cootie barrier? How about scratching on the outside, or just adjusting my package? Do I now need to go wash up?

This is distinctly different than wiping my ass. I know there is a risk of Klingon contamination, so I wash then. But that does NOT happen at the gym, so no e-coli on the dumbbells.

Maybe because that area tends to get sweatier than other areas...and is in close proximity to the "bum"?

Talking about e-coli. I witnessed another fine individual drop a deuce at a Salsa night club. He did not wash up and proceeded to join the lesson they had before open dancing....grabbing all the unsuspecting women's hands.

on the other side of my gym they have those huge fricken' fans that have blades about oh I dunno 15' long and when i'm working out and my body temps is through the roof and i'm sweating like a pig it really efs me up when that cold breeze hits me! why the hell do you need that? it's a gym!
