m5 exhaust

I recently purchased a m5 exhaust, I see alot of people putting 4" tips on it, however I measure less than an inch gap between the 3" tips that is currently on it, for me to install 4" tips wouldent i need an inch or more gap between tips? I am planning on installing the tips shown below in 4" would it work? see pic below. As well the small end of exhaust tip is 63mm correct?

I've got 4" tips on my M5 exhaust. Only thing I need to do is modify the diffuser for clearance

what size did you get for inlet tips? I talked to my local muffler shop, he suggesting I get bigger inlet size rather than smaller, so i measure the insletsize is at 67mm, but taken in account of my measurement margin of error and manufacture not being precise, I was recommended to get the 70mm inlet tips, saying it is always easier to go bigger, but if the tips are too small they are very hard to work with, any thoughts?

and can you also tell me what tips you used and whats the inlet size? and how did it fit?
