Pete, 90% of 5 series owners have 520d. No issues here with my lowly 520d

My Wife noticed it too today.
So did a guy from work when he took it out for a short drive.

It's fairly constant in motion, all speeds, doesn't change with gears/revs. It's just there all the time.

I don't know. If I post a picture of my nose then maybe you can identify if it's one you've bloodied!

Was thinking it may be isolated to 520d models until the 530d was added to the problem. Appears it is not simply a set of engine characteristics.

That is not what I'd expect at all from the vibration sources we have in a car. It's as if it is somehow induced by the EPS itself. I wonder if it is an electrical (hum like) frequency, does it change as you actually steer the car?

Not that I've noticed.

I have pondered on whether it's EPS related but a combination of feeling like pushing water uphill and no more warranty means I prefer to enjoy the car as best I can. Regular trips to the dealer are a right old pain in the butt.

FWIW I never had this issue on my 2010 F11 530d and in now 4,000 miles in the last 4 weeks in my 535d F11 again no such issues.

BMW have recommended that the dealer replace with new trailing arm suspension brushes that are normally fitted to a 7 series. Goes in next week to get it sorted.

Sorted, no vibration at all.
I can feel lots of feedback from the road though.

Great news too, is the feedback bad?

Excellent News Blaster, is the increased feedback not a good thing?

Actually this is the 2nd day of having the fix in place and the feedback was very little on the journey home from work.
No feedback at all on the Motorway and smooth A/B roads. Some of the poorer roads there was a little feedback, but nothing worth worrying about, and after a while I forgot all about it.
Where as before, there was a lot of vibration on the same roads.
The car actually feels like it should do now.

So well done BMW.

Holy thread revival!

@balster, do you have any part numbers at all?

Mine vibrates in drive, if I rock the steering wheel between 5-7 o clock the vibration disappears
