BWM 528 windshield glass scratch repair

Hello everyone,

I used sandpaper try to clean dirty point on the windshield glass, really xxxxx idea... then many scratch appeared on windshield, but not to heavy.

I had ask for one windshield vendor, they said no way to clean or repair that.

the question is: can I goto the Car cosmetic shop and ask polishing the window and reduce the scratch?

because it will save more than time and money to change new one.

Thanks everyone.

I've never had to do that but I would try something yourself before having to replace it. I found this after a quick search: https://www.amazon.com/GP21005-Winds.../dp/B001RAQGXC

Cerium Oxide is used for polishing glass. I remember I got some for free from a glass/windscreen repair business. It is a dark orange powder. Add water to make a paste and polish out the scratches. I've still got some in an old Maccona Coffee jar in the garage, I haven't had to use it since the time I had to polish out a stone scratch in the E39 windscreen.

Just a suggestion for the future if you need to clean a delicate but hard surface like glass windshields, porcelain, glass bakeware, ceramic stove tops etc...it's a very old but effective product that our grand-parents, great grand-parents, and great great grand-parents were probably very familiar with.

Back in the 60s/70s/80s...many BMW owners used Bon Ami to clear up their pitted windshields. Back then, many BMW owners complained about excessive windshield pitting due to the "soft" glass BMW used.

Just do a google search for Bon Ami cleansing powder if you need more information about this century-old product that is still effective at doing what it does best.

It looks awesome, I would like to try with your recommendation. Thank you very much.

For the soft glass, is decelerating glass tech for BMW?
I also quote from glass vendor, he said there is OEM glass could replace, but might be around 550 - 750$, is it same glass as my original one?
