Awesome....! Seems I have to educate my CA on this. Thanks.
Two things:

Accepting a discount is risky since you are accepting the defect to some extent.

Let's see... Engine and battery issues and reduced maintenance interval?

Dare I say it?

Is ASS (as used in US) the culprit?

I think you misunderstood the question here. The bulletin allows for trade-in allowances so if you want to get out of your N63 vehicle and into a new BMW, you qualify. I'm looking to move into a new car so the timing is right and the discount will be applied to my new BMW. I'm not looking to purchase a N63 vehicle with "recall" issues.

Has anyone compared part numbers now that cars are "updated" from this campaign?

I think we all know that the fuel injectors are a new part. What about others?

Just curious about the thoroughness of this recall/campaign.

Some part numbers are different, others have different index numbers or date codes. Some are other makes
So some cars will have more replaced than others

Injectors - Replace if not "13 53 8 648 937" Index 11

Vacuum pump - Replace if not "11 66 8 605 976" Date code 01 or higher

Low pressure fuel sensor - If Sensata replace with Bosch + new fuel line. If Bosch replace if not Index 02

Air mass sensors - "13 62 8 645 877" All to be replaced

Crank case vent lines - Replace all

Intake duct seal - replace all

Car software - update all

Timing chain - Replace if test failed

So glad I got my car in and repaired the first week of January.

I had to take my loaner back today. My parts were supposed to be in last week and as of today still haven't shown up yet.
Not sure if this is as bad as the N54 recall yet, but it's not looking good.

Damn... I wanted to take mine in but was traveling too much in January. Any idea on when the suspension will be lifted?

So I had my 2011 X5 5.0's injectors replace 3 weeks ago because the car had gone into limp mode. I subsequently found out about this campaign and was told to bring the car back in a few weeks to have service done. In the meantime, car went into limp home mode again. I brought the car in and they said there was a misfire due to a bad coil? They say it has nothing to do with the campaign and want me to pay to have it repaired. Im 4 weeks out of warranty. Any thoughts? Im not sure what they mean by a bad coil...

These guys will do/say anything to avoid fixing the car under warranty. Bad coil where! Ask to speak to a manager or contact BMW office to verify.

i would definitely escalate to the service manager/BMW NA if the manager does nothing.... or perhaps go to another nearby dealership and explain the issue.

Lastly, get an extended warranty after you sort this mess out, so you don't have any headache later. Or sell it?

Got this from my SA: Your car Is getting 8 injector, vacuum pump, fuel sensor, mass air flow sensors and air tubes. Not sure about turbos they passed initial testing.

I also asked them to check my transfer case because my car lately has been making a very loud sound that I never heard before like a strong air flow sound. Last time my friend had it his transfer case went.

2011 550i 57k miles. Out of warranty.

So i called my local bmw dealer and this son of a batch said I would have to wait a year due to the 140 people ahead of me on the list. He said they work on 2 cars a week .. Comes out to 70 weeks. I asked him if every dealer was backed up like his or what. He said yes. I told him to go fuark himself.

Called another bmw dealer bout 30 miles away from my house and he said he could have me in there on 2/4. What a fuarkin relief. Just bought this car from a dealer less than a week ago. Thing is bada$$ except for the rough idle, weird sound on cold starts and some sluggish throttle response in D mode. Honestly I would hate to get rid of this thing.. V8 turbo.. Engine can't get much better. Just few questions...

1. After getting the car serviced through this "recall".. Are these parts still likely to fuark up again in the future or are they "solved" forever, so to speak.

2. If the car is still likely to screw up in the future, I'm thinking about just taking advantage of the bmw buy back schindig. But does this only apply if I purchase a New BMW or could I purchase a used, CPO BMW through the BMW dealer.

3. Recently got a muffler delete on there. Would hate to hear these sons of batches say the muffler delete fuarked with the engine. I know muffler delete wouldn't cause any of these symptoms my car has but you know these slimy bastards would try to get over on their own mothers if they had the chance. Is there anything to worry about here? Should I have the muffler shop put back on my stock mufflers?

Thanks guys!

here's my understanding...they are changing out parts that are potentially troublesome, and putting in new parts that are fine. My 550i will get a lot of new parts, but it's running 100% fine and chances are it will continue to be fine, BMW is just trying to head off potential future problems. Once you get the replacement parts your 550 will be as good as any other BMW engine out there, so to think about selling it because of this issue to me is a little crazy. You just got free part upgrades on a number of engine components. Maybe I'm drinking the kool-aid but I applaud BMW for getting out in front of a problem and addressing it proactively.

Just took my car in for some warranty work and service. I've been having the rough starts, rough idling, weird noise at start since pretty much day 1 of ownership for me, last time I complained about it they changed my fuel rail but used the same ol injectors. I didn't even know about this tsb till my SA told me about it (lately when I look at this site I just check out the classifieds), he called me yesterday and said I need a new timing chain and pretty much everything else on the list needs to be replaced. He said its going to take about 2-3 weeks since some of the parts are back ordered. He said they've checked about 100 cars so far that pertain to this tsb, he said I'm the 2nd car that needed a new timing chain =/. So I guess I'll report back when I get my car, grrrrrrrrrrrrreat.

This is what a local trusted tech explained it to me like. I'm definitely more comfortable now about keeping it.
