Car looks pretty quick to me but I hear what you are taking about.

They wiped out my dinan stage 2 tune when updating last week and now my car feels slow af

Cautious to have it flashed back until they get my issues worked out cause I'm running like shit right now.

Will BMW provide another battery or do I pay out of pocket? I plan on contacting my local dealership in the next day or so to schedule an appointment. But I would like to know your thoughts first.
More than likely they may be able to parts warranty your battery for you... The advisor may argue with you on it but keep pressing the issue and you should be able to get a new battery if it is deemed defective...

Any thoughts? Im not sure what they mean by a bad coil...
got my 2013 550ix back today...replaced everything under the campaign except timing chain & fuel line

I have had no problems except a one time extremely rough start about a month ago-got Drivetrain Malfunction message - cut it off restarted and seemed ok. My service info from the Customer Care Program states "after test driving found codes for cyl 1 and cyl 2 misfire/ replaced coils on cyl 1 and cyl 2

comments from those who are engine guys appreciated on this.

Just dropped my 2011 550 off for the "Customer Care Package" 2/2/2015. Got a 2015 528 with 1600 miles. Hope this goes smooth. I got the "DT" malfunction 1 Dec at 43000 miles...Bad fuel pump...SA called and told me about the "Customer Care Package" 5 January, even though I already knew about it, and said that he would get to me as soon as he could. True to his word, he call me last Thursday to bring it in. He's a cool guy and keeps me informed about whats going on with my ride, so I trust him and the "stealership"... ... Yeah, I'm worried about depreciation and long term effects just like everyone else as I am buying my 550, but hey, what are you gonna do. Oh yeah, I'm buying the extended warranty as soon as the service is done. I'll definitely let everyone know how this turns out.

As someone who has been looking into buying a 550i or an M5 for the last few months, i am amazed to hear about this kind of an issue...

I've never owned a car of this stature/price point but would not have expected something like this to happen for a car that sells for 70k+ brand new

Maybe i just don't love driving enough but I'm not sure I can justify spending that kind of money on a 550i/M5...or any other similarly priced brand (Audi, MB etc) as they have somewhat similar issues

I just always assumed when you're paying that kind of money, you're getting reliability/longevity in addition to performance.

The reason I'm posting this is to get some perspective from you folks who have clearly owned multiple BMWs or multiple similar luxury cars...

Thanks in advance

Umm...Usually, the most expensive cars are the least reliable cars. You're paying for luxury and prestige. Like any of us really need 400+ HP.

Not really the case. B Ms are highly tuned and fast, fun cars to drive, which obviously is going to put more wear and tear on the components and engine. The reason Kias and other POS' last so long is they're built cheaply with cheap parts but are made to go slow and not be thrashed around. F1 engines costs millions of dollars but only last a few races before they have to be replaced because they rev so high. Obviously a B M isn't an F1 car, but it's a sliding down scale form that IMO.

Recalls/service bulletins are quite common and any brand can be affected. Again, this isn't a true "recall" and it's mostly all preventative maintenance on BMW's part which is nice. They sorted out whatever was the issue in the N63-TU update and the 4.4L TTV8 is going in the new M6 GT3 racer, so it obviously can perform. I'm quite confident it'll be fine after this service. I plan on keeping mine now.

Just got my car back. Dropped it off yesterday and got it today. Is it possible for them to replace all the parts so quickly? It says on the invoice everything was replaced but the timing chain. Car drives smoothly as before .. Just curious if anyone knows how long it would take.
