Screens With Silver Trim Functionally Different

So my car is a 2016 F10 with Nav. I want to replace the screen with another OEM one. I'm looking on eBay and the older NBT screens are a bit cheaper than the ones with the silver trim. Can I buy an older one and swap the trim pieces or is there something actually different with the screens, be it in resolution or connection type? Pics of the giant dead spot for attention (and pity) TIA!

I believe the ones with silver trim are a newer part number.

The trims are removable (they are a separate part), the displays are functionally the same.

Where did you get central pop-up speaker from?

That's from the B&O sound system

How DIY savvy are you? since you can buy a brand new screen here:
https://www.opuradio.com/products/bm...li-520i-car-au

OR just the LCD panel and swap it out:
https://www.opuradio.com/chimei-inno...-52-p2187.html

Just make sure to buy the one for NBT units and not CIC or NBT EVO. Which means you want a screen from 2013-2016. Easy to tell is your screen only has one external connector (HSD+2) where as the older CIC screens have 2 connectors (HSD and a 8 pin black connector)

This is really great, thank you. I picked up a used one on eBay but haven't tested it yet. If there's any issues with it I'll grab a new one from those guys. Thanks!

I've seen these sold separately (just a central speaker that pops up)

Yup, plenty of these available now, the mechanics look and perform fine. There is a review on the x forums of someone putting it on F15. They even sell full replacement speaker sets that look identical to the original B&O speakers. You won't be able to tell the difference if you compare them to oems unless you know what to look for. Sound wise, its probably a guess as the claim is they sound better than HKs but..no idea about longevity etc.

I wonder if you could replace the built in speaker with one of your choosing.
