How to check if tunned car

Just got an 523i (N53 engine 3l -- F11 --) and the owner said it had a stage 1 tune, but I have no clue on how to check it.
On another note, there is an usb in the back (nothing interesting on it) but if I take it out, the car when started makes noises from the trunk.
Any ideas ?

There's an ISTA service function that can check for tunes.

Thanks will check it out, but first will have to create/get a VM with all the BMW software on it, as I don't have a windows laptop anymore.
