Shudder at idle and when moving off

Hey guys just got my 2010 BMW F10 535i about a week ago with 115k kms. Noticed that the car has an intermittent shudder at idle. Also, when moving off, letting off the brake and not accelerating from stop either in "drive" or "reverse" the car tends to move in a jerky mannner. Would greatly appreciate the helps guys as I am new to F10 and N55.

Could that be the auto start/stop engaging?

Maybe It's a bad engine mount? When my 535i had a bad engine mount it would vibrate a lot so try to check that..

Thanks. I am bringing the car to the workshop next week, I will ask them to look out for the engine mounting.

Are you sure? The "off" switch wasn't added until 2012, IIRC.

Hi sorry for the late reply. Was it a standard feature on 535i or is there somehow I can check if my car has the function? As you mention my car does not have the "off" switch.

There is a little Auto Start/Stop button under the Engine Start/Stop button. If you don't have that there's no real way to check if you have it. The 2011 5 Series does NOT Come with Auto Start Stop sadly, but the 2012+ 5 Series comes with it Standard across all Trim Levels.

My 2012 535i did not have the "Off" button. I had to code it "Off" as its default.

Easy to check. Does the engine shut-down when it's warmed-up and you come to a complete stop? Do you have this symbol (to the left of the "P") in the cluster?
