6WA Cluster Upgrade

Hi All!

I recently purchased a 2016 528i xDrive. Overall love the car but want something more digital as far as the cluster goes.

I looked into a 6WB but couldn't justify the cost to myself, even though it is absolutely beautiful.

I was looking to swap out my quarter digital one with the 6WA half digital cluster. I found one on eBay (link below) that says it will fit. From my research, it is pretty much plug and play with some coding.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/35409359054...#38;media=COPY

My question is, is it truly plug and play? Also, does the mileage of the replacement cluster matter? I've seen elsewhere that the donor cluster must be less mileage than my car?

As for the coding, I'm in NJ. Can anyone recommend a coding guru to help me with this or even someone that can do it remotely?

Thanks in advance and all! Sorry if this has been covered somewhere else. I'm new and I trying searching but couldn't find anything.

They are not plug and play. Some vehicles have MOST connector separate so you may have to swap the connector to combine two plugs into one. You will have to clear the VIN and miles from the 6WA before you plug it into your vehicle. Once that is done, you will just need to code for 6WA.

Thanks for the info! So theoretically, that one should fit correct? Any recommendations for coders?

Yes, that will work for you.

To clear VIN and coding, you can contact addy27 on here or Will at will@bimmerretrola.com

They are very knowledgeable on this and can clear VIN and miles. You will have to ship the cluster to them to do it and then then you can have it coded

6WA is definitely an upgrade from the base cluster.

That base cluster should of never been placed in the F10.

I find it quite hard to source 6WA KMH Petrol virginized, will it be a problem (i.e. tampering dot shows) if I'm using MPH petrol one?

No, you have to desolder the eprom and clear it in a bench and then soldier it back on.
