New Fault Code! Just kidding, DTM

So my turn at this. I've had it before, but cured by the typical restart. This time, it definitely is missing a cylinder. I'm thinking coils but who knows. Luckily, still under factory warranty.

Does anyone know if it's really bad to drive on it? I figure the ECU is smart enough that the gas is not being squirted into the cylinder and it's not sparking so it should just be a dead cylinder. Loaner not available until next Thursday..... to top off the mother of all coincidences... the old E60 is in the shop so I don't even have that as a spare!!!

UPDATE:

Anyone know of ever replacing a DME for the N63? The dealer is saying that the car needs a new computer. Can a piggy back tune corrupt the computer? It was my understanding that if potentially pushed, the other components in the fuel/ignition realm would be taxed, therefore prone to failure. Seems weird or they are really milking BMW warranty.

Were you getting the DTM with the tune? Did you try it stock? If so, were you still getting DTM?

Yup, in stock trim I still got DTM. I took the stage 1 off and restarted several times.... definitely missing a cylinder.

Guys an update. The dealer replaced the ECU completely. Reprogrammed DME... runs amazing now. Anyone else have this happen to them? I was thinking the normal injector or coil failure. Got this in at 49k mi lol!
