Panoramic Roof - Why does mine look different?
Hi all
I have the panoramic roof on my 2015 F11 M Sport and have noticed that once fully open, there's a black strip that extends up on the leading edge of the panoramic roof (not sure what the part is called, but I'm guessing it's a wind deflector). I've noticed some F10/F11 cars have this part with a 'toothed/grooved' feature on them - kind of like the crenels and merlons design of a castle! Excuse the poor pics - 1st pic shows the flat straight edged design. 2nd pic below shows the alternative design. Does anyone know why some F10/F11 cars have this and others don't? I really like the look of the jagged edge design, is this something that can be retrofitted if the desired part can be obtained? Thanks in advance for any help. |

it is called a Slipstream deflector i think a retrofit would not be hard. The hard part would probably be finding one.
I hace the jagged edges on mine. Here is the part number Slipstream deflector- 54107209282

Could just be an update BMW did on the LCI models.

After doing a bit of research, looking up different years and models on REALOEM, I think the different designs may be to do with the F10 vs F11, I stand to be corrected however!
The jagged edge part no, which Force2013 has rightly mentioned is: 54107209282 (as seen on F10 models). Putting my F11's details into REALOEM, I'm getting the following part number for the slipstream deflector: 54107256364. The diagrams on the parts catalogue, regarding the two deflector types, differ a fair bit when comparing each part number. Are you guys with the jagged edges, running cars with just sunroofs, or full panoramic roofs, as this could also be why such variations exist? So it looks like a retrofit may not be possible, unless someone can say for sure otherwise. |
