Catless DP + JB4 Emmision Testing?

Anyone know or have passed OBDII based emmisions with catless downpipe and jb4?

if so, how were you able to?

I have a 2011 535i completely stock as of now

You will not pass emission with catless downpipe and a JB4 only

As Mike said it can't be done with jb4. You will need a flash tune like one from Mission Performance and they can add that feature on.

You're in illinois. I thought all they do is hook it up to a computer to make sure you're not throwing any codes for emissions. If you're not throwing any codes, what else can they be testing? Does a catless downpipe cause you to throw any codes?

The monitors will not be in a ready state so it will not allow the car to pass

Jb4 or VRSF CEL delete will hide the code
Catted downpipe will also not get codes most of the time

Of course not getting a code and legally passing emission are 2 separate things.

I cannot give you any advice on how to illegally pass emission tests

turn off the JB4 and loosen the O2 sensor so it lets more oxygen in? My roommate is a mechanic out here in crook county and he says that is the way to pass with cat less DPs. Or just find some one to register your car in kankakee county and you don't have to worry about it.

Not on newer cars. Last time they checked my exhaust was when I had a 95 Escort 18 years ago. (that doesn't sound right) If you have an OBD2 connection, that's what they usually use.

I recommend you get a OBD2 reader and an app like torque to see if they are in ready state.

So if you don't throw a code you can any exhaust setup? Illinois wasting money, I am sure there is a better way of doing it.

Yes in illinois on all my past cars they have only done OBDII scans for readiness of the monitors....

I think they only do exhaust on non OBDII cars....

Hence why Jb4 will keep reseting the code making the monitors not ready...

I wonder if anyone has done this before

Sorry I got side tracked on the topic, no. But like I said turn the JB4 off and loosen the O2 sensors to trick them into thinking are getting cleaner air just to pass.

so my friend said what he did for his cat less pipes is he got a spacer for the sensor so it sits farther out of the pipe and you don't get codes.

I thought about that solution too from a few reviews .. the only concern i came across is that the newer ecu's are much more advanced and sense that the cat is missing

True but you know the risks of putting non road legal mods on your car. Do you have a code reader? I would not worry to much if you have 2011 I think you will be fine with the spacers. Where are you located? If you need help I live in homewood and my roommate had the knowledge, tools, and tester that you need.

+1 I don't know about the 5's but I've added that extended piece to my old infiniti G37 with Catless dp's and a buddies 328. Both times it worked like charm fixing the check engine light.

It should work for the 5 series, I can't think of any major differences between the emissions programing in the 3 series and 5.

Put the tune back to stock and use O2 spacers (you might have to try multiple spacers stacked (to move the sensor from the exhaust stream). You also will need to drive for a few days (various speeds (street/hwy)) to make sure all the readiness are set. You will have a short window before the check engine light might resurface to pass. Otherwise put the stock downpipe back for the test.
