Sweet supra.

I still want to know why the VVT breather vents better than the stock crank case vent. Especially when the air intake is SUCKING air out of your crank case. So it might be a smaller hose, but theoretically there is vacuum created by connecting it to the intake.

see if you can get -6 or -8 braided lines. I did that to my HPFP and seen a great increase in volume.

Wonder if the S58 lp connecting hose is bigger.

My layman understanding is the PCV is good for 0-3 psi. Adding boost increases positive crankcase pressures so opening the oil cap allows for quicker evacuation to atmosphere and doesn't need recycling

Taking back my comment on gas fumes from the breather. I was dumping fuel out of my low pressure sensor. Apparently I did not tighten it enough and it was literally streaming gas down my engine!

Fixed and VTT back on the car.

I was not smoking weed when I put it back together.

So you're saying you do NOT smell any fumes from the VTT breather?

I bought a $25 oil catch can from Amazon (per the install review of another member on here) and will be trying that and was curious about doing this mod too, after seeing your initial post. I'm shell-shocked from having to replace my PCV valve (tried just replacing the cap, but ended up having to replace the whole valve cover).

No fumes. False alarm on me, my bad. I was actually leaking fuel that coincidently got worse at the time of this install. In regards to this VTT breather, I caught up with the guys from BPM Sport and they said we don't need it and the the stock PCV is good enough. I mentioned even under high boost and they said the yeah. So there ya go. I'm keeping mine on for now.

In regards to the just replacing the cap. I also learned from BPM to replace the whole valve cover if your replacing the valve cover seal or the PCV diaphragm. They mentioned that they've seen the VC seal in need of replacement in under a year of repairing it. This happened to me and they mention the plastic cover warps anywhere from 1-2mm enough to never seat correctly again. So I'll be doing my OFHG and VC seals once more this year.

Make sure to go with the vitron OFHG. Apparently lasts wayyyy longer than stock material.

Good info there! It could be logical under high boost... but maybe not enough boost to matter... UNLESS, it depends on how much blow by you have.

You said it revved better, right? Who cares what math says, what did you feel

Also, I don't know about changing valve cover... I am at 112k and this is the first time I had to replace the gasket. Mechanic said the cover looks in great condition.

The guys at BPM are high caliber mechanics. It could be that it's not the case for everyone but 100k+ miles i think its worth the 500. I changed my seal 1.5 years ago and it's leaking again. Not massively but enough to annoy.

The guy is BMW certified master mechanic. He done these jobs left and right changed my valve cover gasket in 1 hour. Installed my turbo in 4 hours. He knows his shit is all I am saying lol. Done over 1200 valve cover jobs himself. He even told me this scary thing about n55s where engine oil change caused engine seize due to oil pump having air bubbles. He Hass seen it all.

You've found the right guy. 4 hours is good. I've seen Alex at Mission do a turbo swap in a few hours with a b58. Impressive.

4 hours included VRSF intercooler which was pain in the ass to get into place and build custom mounts on the spot with welding.

@Bmw doubles, so overall experience of the breather is still good? Fits well under the hood, correct?

Wanting to purchase the breather as well as I am now approaching 26 - 27 psi of boost with my custom tune and do not really feel like blowing out seals.

TIA

No problems with breather. Fitment is A+
According to BPM it's not needed but so far all good. No smells, no errors, no problems.

Maybe wishful thinking on my part to get to those numbers but right around 22 psi now according to data logs. Got something in the works regarding internals though.

Will post up some more info if interested as we progress.
