Hi all,

Brand new to the forum after picking up a low mileage 535i xDrive. It has the M sports package with 351M wheels and 245/40/19 tires (8.5" width?). I'd love to go to 20's but am concerned about ride quality. Tire noise is also a concern, but not as much so.

I've read you don't want to increase tire circumference more than 3% with xDrive, and I'm trying to figure out what tires are my best option. I'll be sticking with a squared setup for simplicity. I'm in Salt Lake and do drive in the snow, so I'm limited to all season tires...

265/35/20 seems like the most logical option, with a 2.2% larger circumference.

Is it ill advised to run 245/40/20 (3.7% larger circumference)?

Is there a third option I'm not considering?

I know ride quality will be decreased on rough surfaces, but how much of a difference should I expect? Utah does a good job of repairing the roads, but temperature extremes and salted roads take their toll nonetheless.
