Recently bought the 2011 in 3/19 with 79k. Took it in for oil change. Dealer says excessive oil usage and we'll do all the seals blah blah blah. I ask about the customer care package after doing some research while they have my car torn apart for 3 weeks. They say all 8 injectors were done at 60k miles in 9/17.

Car throws a code every once in a while when I got it back. Took it right back told me one bad coil on cylinder 1 and it'll be $375. I throw a fit it ran fine for 300 miles before I took it to have the motor torn apart. No chance. Had to pay to have it fixed.

Now, here I am 13 months later, 3700 miles later with a blown engine. They tell me two injectors failed and I drove it 13 miles with the check engine light on and it washed cylinders 1 and 3 and locked up the crank. They want 52k to fix the motor and BMWNA has come back and offered 12k off and the dealer offered 10k off for a total of 30k to fix it now.

Has anyone had to go as far as hiring a lawyer yet. I cant believe after 3700 miles I have a complete paper weight in my driveway worth absolutely nothing.
375 for a coil!!!!! For future reference: Replacement OEM Eldor coils are 38 dollars each and you can replace cylinder 1 coil with zero tools, all that is needed is your finger and about 2 minutes. NEVER underestimate the dealers ability to rape you.

As for you engine, you can get a BMW rebuilt for about 3200 + shipping. You have to pay the core charge upfront but will receive it back when they get your old engine. Below is a link

Expect to pay around 3 to 4K for labor at good local independent shop (its a 40 hour job).

I would also replace all of your injectors with new, it would be unwise to use the old ones you have left. Replace the rest of your coils and plugs too. Get them at FCPEuro.

So you are looking at 3200 for engine, around 2000 in parts(injectors, coils, plugs) 3 to 4K labor, 500 for shipping and 200 in misc gaskets, fluids, oil, coolant, etc and should be right around 9 to 10k to replace the engine. Much Better then the "discounted" 30 grand.

N63 oil consumption testing in process - now broken

I just had an oil change June 01 at 70,250 and returned for oil consumption test at 71,250, as oil and coolant top-offs have become too frequent. SA indicated only 0.8L consumed in 976 miles = OK. SA suggested 1st test was highway miles and advised to return vehicle for 2nd test at 72,000 driving more aggressively stop and go. He seemed to have some compassion and hoped that repairs could be done if 2nd test failed.

Well, I never made it. Took it out for a short hop last night and noticed a slight chirping noise, mostly when feathering the throttle. Thought there may have been some driveline vibration issue or maybe a coil going bad. Before I could complete my trip, the noise became louder and bucked and hesitated. No warning lights and oil is still showing max. I parked it on the street and had it towed to dealer today. Odo showing 71,500.

Hoping it is turbos and not short block related. Really hoping the care package can some how accommodate this, but not holding my breath. Stay tuned.

Question regarding being modded and HPFP replacement. If someone was to go stage 1 or stage 2, does anyone know if BMW would void 10 year/120k miles HPFP repairs due to having a tune?

I understand the other repairs would not be covered, but curious about the fuel pump...

Random question to bring this thread back up- what was the deadline for having this bulletin performed? I’ve found a 2011 550IX that had all work done at a local dealer and no sign of whether the N63 CCP was performed on it.

I have a 2016 340ix but I’m looking for a great condition 550xi.

120,000 miles or 10 years from new and then nada $$$ to the current owner

Once the ECU is re-flashed for a tune, the CCP is void.

N63TU was made after 2013 model year I believe it was a mid year cycle change, like my 2016 made late 2015 as a 2016 for example. I believe this only affects the N63s made before that change to N63TU.

look for one with a good condition of the body and interior, the engine can be assembled and assembled as you need, the result will make you very happy, the stock block can withstand high power of 800-900 horsepower, sometimes more, but the pistons in the n63 are crap, it’s better to get from the s63 , I also recommend redoing the intercooler cooling. This is if we are talking about the f10 generation, in the G30 generation it is better to immediately take the latest generation engine, which has 530 horsepower, it is very good
