Group Coding Session - F1x series - FREE !
Group Coding Session for enthusiastic 5 series (F1x) owners - ALL FREE !
Date: Sun, 18 Jan 2015 Time: All day long Location: Costa Coffee/ COOP Store, Park Prewett Road, Basingstoke, RG24 9RG Google Maps (Please park in car park for Coop/Costa on the day) (For previous details/ work done, requests, etc, see this original thread) I have had many requests from people to hold a coding day/ session; and I have been holding this off for quite some time (my apologies). I guess it is time to set something up. - Everyone is welcome - It's going to be totally free - I can also update your SatNav maps to latest 2015-1 (free!) Update: Please download the appropriate map to a USB disk prior (Read why?) to visiting me. I can then provide a unique code for each of your cars. Download links for 2015-1 European maps. Europe_Professional_2015 Europe_Move_2015-1 Europe_Next_2015-1 What do you guys think? Reply with what you would like done and which date is more suitable, I am more inclined to Sun. Update: Having seen some responses, confirming the event for Sun, 18 Jan. Update: 1) I have added the location above. 2) May I also request all attendees to bring along a written/ printed list of coding requirements? --------------------------------------- Update: Map/ direction guidance for location Attendees: Sun, 18 Jan 2015 Group Coding Session (in no particular order) Confirmed members:
Definitely not attending:
- Apologies in advance If I have missed anyone. Can you please post in the thread and let me know?

Yay! Either Saturday or Sunday, I don't mind, whatever the majority agrees on. I will also update later with what I'd like done. Can you either post or pm your/meeting place address.
Thanks so much gspannu! |

Polite Request:
Anyone who wishes to upgrade their maps to 2015 (Professional SatNav Media), then Please download the maps from here to a 32GB or larger USB disk and I will provide the necessary code for you. Maps take a long time to update (1 hour or so), so it serves everyone if people can bring their own USB drives/disks with the maps downloaded. I will provide the code for each car and then you can update at your leisure or on your way back home. I do have the maps on my laptop, but it does take a while to copy 30GB data onto USB disk, so requesting people to bring their own copy - this will avoid anyone having to wait while maps are being copied. If you are unable to download the maps, then please bring a laptop and a (blank) 32GB or larger USB along. I will give you my maps on a portable drive and you can then use your own laptop to copy these to your own USB disk - this way at least my laptop will be available to carry on coding the cars.

Thanks very much mate! There's a small chance I may take delivery on the saturday but its all down to when it comes off the ship. If I do then a nice blast down the Basingstoke on the Sunday would be great. If not I appreciate the time to do it another time.

Thanks for the PM gspannu!
Unfortunately I can't make it :-( Also for the purposes of those attending, and are downloading the maps, was that for NBT units only (as we were speaking about this in PM and last we spoke it was NBT specific)? |

Great. Just saw your PM about formatting the USB drive.
You can format the disk either as FAT32 or exFAT - both are fine...

No, You do not need to purchase a FSC code nor a VIN. I will read a file from your car and then generate a unique code. This is indeed totally FREE ! Once I have read this file from your car; I can then generate codes for future maps as well. Mao updates take around an hour or so. You do not need to plan a long trip, you can start/stop your car and the update picks up again automatically from where it stopped, and the best part is that your old maps/ sat-nav continues to function during the update as well.... great BMW technology ! Spotting any new roads on the maps - difficult to tell, but I am sure there will be new stuff.

Since you might have a long drive back home, I'm sure other attendees will accommodate you if we need to bump you up.

Just saw your post on my wall (and remember you well).
I have not specifically done the CIC maps, but we can try on Sunday if you are coming around. We can update your token as well - no problems. As to download links, here are the 3 links for 2015-1 European maps. Europe_Professional_2015 Europe_Move_2015-1 Europe_Next_2015-1
