CarPlay Assistance
Hey guys
I bought a 2011 F10 a couple of months ago. After purchasing I realized when I held down the menu button it launched a CarPlay. I was able to get my phone connected after jumping through some hoops but I am not able to see my cameras (Rear, night vision) through it and I have to change back to normal Idrive. The audio I also need to use bmw Bluetooth even though my phone auto selects CarPlay and I have to switch it back. So basically if anyone knows how to see what brand CarPlay retrofit I have so I can hopefully find a user manual. Thank you! |

It’ll be really difficult to tell where your module is from. I have one that I purchased from eBay and installed myself. Some off brand Chinese place. Despite that, the reverse camera automatically turns on in reverse. I’m unsure as to why yours won’t pop up automatically.
When I installed mine, I had to use an aux cable. I actually keep my phone disconnected from the BMW Bluetooth, and connect it to the CarPlay Bluetooth. When I want to listen to music from my phone through CarPlay, I select AUX from the BMW multimedia menu. I mention this because you said you basically have to switch back and forth for Bluetooth audio. I would check to see if an aux cable was placed (look in the center console). I hope some of this helps. |

check your firmware version (usually it can be done by "exiting" the carplay/AA, or hold the home button to access the MMI if there's no connected phone).
Match the FW version with the listed one in this thread: https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1675929 |

Thank you guys for replying!! This is what it says when I look at the status and when I click software upgrades it is password locked. Is there a universal way of resetting the whole system or is that a case by case?
Also I don’t see a aux plugged in. The module would be be behind the glove box or in the side panel? Thank you all again, I really appreciate the help!! |
