Which Differential fluid to use
I'm needing to change the diff fluid on my 535i and have seen some reviews on these diff fluid brands, OEM BMW (Castrol prob), Redline, and liqui moly. So far seems redline has the best reviews and most are saying don't go with liqui moly. Thoughts on this?

This is a matter of much debate. The specs have been changed many times, and the official dealer documentation contains "OR" a lot of times.
The following documents on newtis would appear to be authoritative as of their date of release (Aug 2018) and simplifies things greatly. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ion/1VndAkI4Dp https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ide/1VnczONFlo If you look at realoem, bimmercat or ask your dealer, you get a lot more options and confusion. On my 3/ or 4/2011 build 535xi, I chose to believe that G2 was right for the front and SAF-XO was correct for the rear. I purchased genuine G2 for the front from the dealer. I used SAF-XO compatible Amsoil Severegear SVT in the rear. |
