Bmw twin power turbo fuel additive

TWIN POWER TURBO FUEL ADDITIVE

Has anyone ever tried this stuff? You can buy it directly from BMW.
Does it actually work?
Thanks

New improved formula developed for BMW engines. Fuel System Additive can help: Clean deposits from fuel injectors intake ports, intake valves and combustion chambers. Restore lost fuel economy, power and performance. Clean and protect against sulfur corrosion that can harm fuel gauge sensors.
This won't work on direct-injected engines as the fuel doesn't go through the intake ports or over the valves. It may help with the injectors, but a good quality (Top Tier) fuel will do the same.

Dealers do have a chemical cleaner that they inject into the intake system that will wash the valves.

Walnut blasting every 70-80k miles is a good idea with direct injection engines.

The N55 has much better ventilation then the N54 and needs blasting much less often. We traded-in our 2013 535i last Jan with, IIRC, around 95K miles and never did the walnut treatment. I asked my SA about the procedure and he said they only do it on the N55 if other options to cure the fouled valve problem don't work.

N55 walnut blasting is unnecessary.

Good to know. I have seen breakdown videos on YouTube of failed N55s with significant carbon buildup. However, since those were failed engines, there may have been other issues at play.

308K miles and never once used any injector cleaner or walnut blasting.

I use the Chevron/Techron fuel additive about 500 miles before my next oil change.

Is it “snake oil”? Maybe, but for a few bucks it gives me a warm & fuzzy feeling that I’m doing sone easy preventative maintenance.

I do believe that using gas with Techron is a wise choice with direct injection.

The basics of Techron chemistry include the Techron molecules physically adhering to metal and displacing valve buildup - this would not help with direct injection but maybe there are other ways it helps other than placebo, ha ha. Does this mean that Techron contributes to carbon buildup or helps? Dunno. It probably cleans the injectors themselves, though.
