[Ric in RVA]

For years the steering on my 2011 F10 N52 528i has made a low moaning noise while steering at parking lot and lower speeds.

At first it was inconsistent (so much that BMW techs said it was not an issue).

Now ,at 110000 miles, it is much more regular...and of course out of any warranty.

It still steers correctly and operates correctly with no weird habits or codes it just moans at low speed. Almost like a hydraulic system that is low on fluid.

An external inspection reveals nothing out of the ordinary.

Has anyone run across a similar situation? Current plan is to put up with it until it actually shows some evidence of failure, codes or flaky behavior.

Otherwise this has been a spectacular car for us.

I've had a weird humming sound that comes from the engine and is only audible while sitting in the car. Its more like a moan....similar to the sound a bad power steering pump makes, or a power steering system might make when it has air trapped in it. Or so I once thought. I wish I could describe the sound better, but that's honestly the best I can do.
