Power loss?!
As I mentioned, just got my 535d.
Driving it back from the dealers on the motorway about 70 and I noticed I'd lost power, it would only accelerate at a crawl. No warning lights, though. I came off at the next junction and took it for a spin up and down a dual carriage way and the performance was shocking - it was revving high and taking a while to change gears .. but really going nowhere quick. Like driving through treacle. Pulled over and turned it off. Turned it back on again and it seems to have come back to life. Dealer suggest "monitoring it" to see how it goes, as without any errors on-screen they won't be able to see much when they hook their computer up. Not a great first hour with the car. Hope it's not a bad omen of things to come. I figure I'm fine seeing if it reoccurs - I've another 2.5 years warranty. Anyone got any suggestions as to what may have happened?

If by "driving it back from the dealers" you mean you'd just bought the car and this was your first drive as the new owner, I don't consider the suggestion that you should monitor it to be acceptable.
Clearly something is wrong and the very least the dealer should do is to drive the car and hook up the diagnostics computer; something may show up even though you didn't get any warning indicators. Sounds like they're trying to fob you off. |

Yeah, thanks - it was the first drive.
I called the Bristol dealership (I live in Bristol), but bought the car from Gloucester. Might explain the reticence - but I'm going to give them a call back today and insist as you say.
