Where to buy full driveshaft assembly? hopefully to cure rumbling.

My 2014 535i 6mt has a rumbling driveline vibration while on throttle only. i have already replaced the guibo, csb and differential gear oil, but the rumbling persists.

The next step is to change the full driveshaft assembly. Where can i get one? OE BMW is almost $1,400

TIA

How have you determined this is related to the drive shaft?

Have you looked into the many rear end bushings that could also cause 'rumbling' in the rear end?

I haven't checked the other bushings. tbh, i havent found a shop in the north east to take the time to check all bushes and bearings.

any recommendations on how i can do it myself?

Rumbling on acceleration is usually indicative of driveline issues, not bushings.

Absolutely you are correct, it can also be related to any bushing utilized in securing the differential and less likely the rear suspension.

I was wondering how he determined it was the driveshaft. The driveshaft is not usually replaced item unless it was damaged(impact) some how. CSB/Guibo can be wear items.

I would visually inspect your rear end for anything unusual, damage to drive shaft, axles, differential bushings, differential mounts, etc...

not sure if this is related but I would have to go back to one of the recalls my BMW had earlier this year but it did have to do with possible driveline vibrations. the exhaust had to be completely removed in order to get to the component that had to be replaced. i'll see if I can find out what that was

So, after a very reputable shop completed a thorough test drive on the road and on a lift...the true cause is a faulty differential.

where to by a diff for a 2014 535 6mt? i think used should be fine. BMW OE part is almost 3k.

How many miles? I'm starting to see a lot of data points for F10 differentials going out. It's starting to scare me a bit...

only 65k!

the differential for the 535 6MT is a 3.23 vs a 3.08 for the auto.

the 3.23 is a interchange part with 528 4cyl auto. perhaps its weaker than the 3.08

Would be a good time to go to a proper LSD.

Plenty of options, give them a call and they can set you up with a great differential at cheaper than OEM.
