90 degree thermostat
Does anyone know anything about this? how effective is it to prolong engine life? from my understanding, it cools the oil earlier (vs BMW factory 105 degree) therefore helps the internals last longer, seals and so on, sounds great since head gaskets and valve stem seals are known to fail and they cost an arm and a leg to replace. Also well from my research, the only downside is slightly lower MPG which is pretty negligible. And apparently, it's not an easy job for DIYers. Anyone any thoughts?

It replaces the factory coolant thermostat, not the oil. It will reduce coolant temperatures. It can't be a bad thing to have especially in hot weather climates. You being in Canada probably don't need it, unless you idle a lot.
I bought this over a year ago, still never got around to installing it. |
