Anyone do a successful valve cover and gasket job at home?

At 49k my valve cover gasket is leaking oil and I wanted to give it a try. Is there a diy guide for n55 535? From reading it makes sense to just replace the valve cover while I'm at it.

This is an F30 (3-Series) but the N55 should be the same. There may be minor differences...

I spoke with my advisor and he said that since my car has 49k miles, they will replace the valve cover gasket under warranty.
