I was out today as well and picked up some Bumbu XO. Very happy with it over ice. The XO doesn't seem to be as sweet as people say the Bumbu original is. I'll have to try the original sometime for a side by side comparison. I mean, why not?

The XO is definitely not as sweet as it doesn't seem to have the added sugars. Side by side will be a stark contrast. I would put the normal Bumbu similar to a Zaya 16 or Zacapa 21 where the XO is closer to a Plantation XO or proofed down Four Square.

My collection is definitely not as extensive as some on here as I mainly dabble in whiskey, just enjoy rum and tequila less frequently.

Interesting. I am looking forward to trying the side by side. I quite enjoy Zaya 16 so I can't see why I won't like Bumbu Original as well. Maybe I'll grab some this weekend. Cheers.

If you like bananas, there is no way you will not like original bumbu. And I'm talking the banana runts, not real bananas. Banana sugar 😂

I love me the banana runts so the bumbu original is one of the only rums I drink that obviously has sugar added.

Getting into the Spirit. The Plantation 5 is definitely better as a mix.

I'll say it again as a fair warning to all. Bumbu is dangerously delicious. As much as I love it, I rarely buy it for fear of, um...losing perspective, shall we say?

Does anyone have experience with this Bajan rum I picked up during my recent travels?

I plan on saving it for when I visit the parental figures and crack it with my dad for the holidays, but just wondering if either of you can provide your thoughts on it, if you've had it before...

I'm more curious as to how he gets the rum to cling to the wall.

It seems like Bajan 1966 doesn't have any added sugars but I also cannot find an age statement anywhere so it is likely young. I have not had it nor have the main people that I know familiar with Rum. Sounds like it may not be sold in the US.

Bajan 1966 is the brand, not an age

I had a wee sip side-by-side comparison between the Appleton and the Plantation. They are very similar in finish and taste. Not really sipping rums but great in cocktails. For about the same money, I prefer the Havana Club 7, either neat or on ice with a twist of lime.

Having said that, I believe that the Bumbu spoiled my taste buds. Probably not fair to use it as a benchmark.

My favorite now is Kaniche rum, Perfeccion Double Wood. It’s aged in bourbon casks and finished in old brandy casks.
