N55 Behind the Grill Intake DIY

OK, so I know there are a few threads on this, but hey... mine's different cause, well, it's mine. Plus everything here is pretty much sourced from Amazon prime with 2 day delivery. It was WAY more expensive than I thought, but oh well. So here we go... still waiting on a few other parts to come in but here is a teaser...

well.... if it's under the $449 that MST wants for their intake, I'm very much interested. This would remove a good what? 7-ish ft of intake tubing? You with your upgraded turbo would see a gain from this!

It should work! intake has identical routing as the N55 on an F10. What may differ is the angle and/ or length of the segment going forward to the opening between the pax headlight and the pax kidney grille . And just like the F10s, the X5 also has an opening on that side as the N63-equipped versions use a scoop on that side as well

The X5 will run into hood clearance issues. They use top mounted kidney intakes, and not side mounted ones like us.

Nice work homie.

I did something similar not too long ago. I'll sell all the parts I made for mine plus extra couplers and pieces if someone is interested. Don't want jack the thread so DM me or I'll create a separate post.

You had issues with too much air right? Or why did you remove it?

Like to share where you got that mafs adapter and whats the size of the tubing you're using? Looks like you added another spacer in between the mafs and the tubing, was that for a reason?

I will go through everything in detail with a video at the end. Parts are coming in so might be running tonight! I will provide links to parts.

Yeah you have to tune to scale the MAF. I started running into leak issues and started eliminating culprits. I was able to hit 22 PSI with out and kept it that way. The inlet was huge upgrade.

Are you sure it needs the tuning? I assume the MST one doesn't...?
